Why can we not use our relic weapons as our base classes? Or why is their not a relic quest for our base class.
For warrior it seems dumb to me. Marauder and Warrior both use a Great Axe, so we should be able to wear our relic on either.

All Jobs use the same weapons as the base class. The problem is that the base class isn't nearly as useful by itself so everyone just runs the job instead. If we had a relic weapon for the base class... why would you use it? Your class will still be inferior to your Job due to the stats that job crystals grant.
Allagan Weapons are on par with +1 relics and mark my words MRD with allagan battleaxe will be able to tank and out dps most classes.
I just look at the pictures for each of the classes and take their level-70 crafted weapons to be their 'relics', in a sense. Because, barring the Allagan weapons, those are the best they get. I also don't include the Primal weapons because the crafted weapons can be both HQ and melded, which is a pretty big positive in my book.
Because eventually there will be 7 more jobs added and if each job needs its own weapon there will be a shortage of chest space.
Because the base classes still have some benefits when it comes to solo play due to having access to cross-class abilities. eg. self-healing, being able to raise others without having to switch to cnj based class, ect.
Because there may eventually be additional importance placed upon those base jobs as new content is added... Such as more class quests.
Because if you are called to sync for a lower level dungeon for FC members, your job may not have less useful abilities open to them than your base class would have from cross-class skills (Thaumaturge,Archer,Warrior).
If you're using a level 70 weapon to kill level 50 world trash, and getting annoyed because you're missing a few stat bonuses... I think you're missing something... Namely the fact that you can essentially run around with nothing but that level 70 weapon and crafting gear and still kill pretty much everything. People are already running CM in crafting gear just to Spirit Bind it. As long as the party doesn't have their head up their arse, it is still easy.

Interestingly, the current Darksteel weapons, such as the Rampager and Mailbreaker (crafted IL70 weapons) were pretty much the Class-only 'Relics' in 1.0
I wonder if something akin could exist now?
because relic weapons are the current ultimate upgrade of that particular weapon, not the specialty job/class. Warrior and Mar can use axe so the axe relic is the relic that is for Mar.
Classes in this game are useless so there is no need for them to have a relic type weapon. The armoury system is broken and a complete joke.
