HeavensWard theme song lyrics:
-"We can [Stance]dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
Cause your friends don't [Stance]dance
And if they don't [Stance]dance
Well they're no friends of mine"
Back in the day we had to walk to school, up hill both ways!
Get over it. MMO's are not as niche anymore. It's main stream now. And you deal with the consequences of that.
*hipster glasses* "I played FFXI before WoW was mainstream man." Like my meme?
"You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means."
I think ARR's original GCD was 3.5 seconds or maybe 3, I don't remember. The game was designed around that GCD, things may seem too easy because we are attacking faster than we were originally designed to. I managed to dodge Titan's abilities perfectly fine, only time I failed a dodge is when I wasn't paying attention, but it didn't get me killed and my gear isn't full DL either.
Bad players will blame anything but themselves, yes the game has its faults but often it is the player who either didn't react in time or just wasn't paying any attention at all.
Sadly you can't change the community, but you can change the game if you submit a coherent post with calm and logical points, something a vocal portion of the posters on these forums can't seem to grasp.
I think the issue is the amount of SOLO play in todays MMOs. Back in Everquest for example, there were few classes that could successfully solo anything (Druids, Wizards, Mages, Necros come to mind). Everything else was group based. Everything. No solo story quests, no solo quests period (maybe newbie armor added later in the game), no duty finder, no teleports (except from druids and wizards), Gear wasn't a linear Tier-buffet, random stuff dropped from random things, exp parties, camping, AoE Groups, 30-50 man raids... OH MAN those were the day..
I was in Late middle school, High school when i started playing EQ. It was around Luclin release, and i loved every minute of the 4-5 years i put into that game. I miss that community so much. Every new MMO (even when EQ2 came out!) I hope to find the same amount of helpful, fun people that like to achieve stuff without a EVERYONE MUST HAVE GARUDA WEAPON attitude.
I would prefer them to have made leveling slow enough that most people weren't worrying about endgame yet. It IS a subscription game, you'd think they would want us to play a long time... :-\
Why do people blame WoW for the rude players? They existed and acted like this before playing the game, it didn't magically change them. Having to deal with these people is just a consequence of the genre getting noticed and gaining popularity over the years. I also find it silly people claim the genre is getting "dumbed down". It really is quite simple, the games have been made to be less time consuming, because face it, how many people can dedicate the kind of time EQ1 required to gaming nowadays? Oh, they should just not play MMO's then, right? Wrong, just because MMO's started out as huge time sinks, doesn't mean it has to stay that way. Time consuming doesn't make things any more difficult, just tedious. Well I seem to have gone off on a rant. Ah well, I hope you all have a great day, don't let the rude ones get to you.![]()
Japanese culture is different... they are taught to be humble people which is why everyone likes playing with jp most of the time. It's not really a new age group thing? I mean with the generation today, it's the "I want this now" generation with no patience and they refuse to give tips and guides and rather have you do it yourself and Google.... but I don't really see that with jp players so it's gatta be a culture thing? Idk. I'm a nice person until a butt scraper starts crap and I'm not the type to leave until everyone leaves. I help people but it's your choice if you wanna take the help or not. Some people listen some don't. It's what ever. Just a game.
I came and bought this game to get away from fps stress but not so sure which is worse anymore.

Allow me to disregard your post... ;-)
Btw.. #2 is just my own personal issue.. Worst end game community ever? (thread)
The fact is GCD is a general issue added with latency and inconsistency of instant/off GCD skills.. Fights that require a LOT of research prior to going in.. it's not about intuitive learning anymore. It's about memorization:
Phase 5:
Mountain Buster -> Stomp -> Plume -> Bombs With Landslide -> Mountain Buster -> Plume -> Rock -> Landslide. (Repeat)
.. Move before plumes come up.. study the rock formations/patterns. Memorization > Skill.
Stun duty for [Insert stunable mob name]... auto-attack until Eruption/Voice, etc..(unless it's off GCD OR you've memorized his patterns). Btw regen is on GCD 2.5 sec instant cast. But yes you're right spell cast time is almost on par with GCD that it's almost unoticeable.
Basically i'm just saying SE has work to do and I'm just wondering why ppl feel they can just be so utterly disrespectful to strangers they are playing with for a common goal.. And maybe I answered myself.. DF = no consequences (as of yet). I've heard a few ppl switch to DPS roles because tanking/healing gets you chewed out faster. It's less noticeable (unless dps race) for dps to take the blame. And then in 8man there's 4 dps.. so unless you have a parser you may not have an idea who is slacking.
@ Eclair_Xysha: To be honest, I think a lot of the western rudeness stems from mainly Americans, not so much Europeans (which I am American, before anyone gets all upset). We seem to have an obsession with freedom to the point of it hurting us. Kids are no longer punished, but instead coddled for the most part, not given proper discipline and aren't taught well enough in school, which leads to improper behavior. I mean hell, I'm only 22 and I noticed these issues going through school myself. I'm thankful every day for being brought up right, and having parents that taught me well. Such a great country, cutting school funding yet again, and teachers pay. Gotta build them bombs, terrorists are everywhere! /sarcasm
Talk about hypocritical.
You state this as a problem:
Someone politely asks a question and you respond with this:
Newsflash: You're part of your own problem!
There is no logical answer to this. The 2.5s GCD makes no difference what so ever on Titan. It's just the slight latency problem that users experience, which is easily resolved by learning Titan's pattern and moving prior to the abilities he cast.
