Lots of points to be made. Lurking these forums, you hear the same tired old responses from people who read OP threads and vehemently disagree with them. Usually these replies are about rushing content or completing all content and having nothing to do, thus quitting the game. These replies are usually filled with insane hyperbole, "What do you want to login and have all the best gear handed to you?" or they'll speak as if they're roommates with Yoshi-P and state how you're supposed to obtain end game gear and it's usually centered around doing Bahamut's Coil and using AF2 as filler, when I look at it and see both systems seem to be in place to cater to the non-raider and the raider, as well as the inbetweener.
Coil has a 1-week lockout, it serves gear for every job in the game. Your chances of getting this gear is low, RNG, and basically very slow. "Welcome to endgame MMO's!" is what they say or will say. But this game touts something called an armory system and has a slightly reduced subscription fee for those who use the armory system and not need multiple chars as alts. One character can be every class in the game. So guess what happens when you try to use this armory system effectively? Those 5-months of myth grinding for one job becomes 10-months for someone with two level 50 Jobs. BC locks out your character, so what job you used to enter BC doesn't matter to the game at all. And being RNG, there is probably going to be some poor soul who goes to BC for weeks, and months, and could possibly never receive a single piece of gear from BC.
I'll say this, doing AK 8 times a week for 5 months is NOT having anything handed to you. That's 40mins AVG for AK at 8 times per week, for 20 weeks = 6400 minutes. That's 106.66666666666667 Hours of a person's time to get all of their AF2 for ONE job. There's nothing "handed to you or lazy" about that, and anyone saying so is a fool.
If anything, some compromise could be made where the myth cap is connected to the job. So you have a 300 myth cap for JOB 1, and a 300 myth cap for JOB 2. Could you use both myths say for one job? I don't really have a problem with that. A person's time is a person's time. Does that mean some people will have AF2 for one job faster than those who don't have other jobs at cap? Sure, but who cares? They're still putting in 16 runs a week to cap out 300 myths for both jobs.
