DD Nerfed

There is a dev post (or whatever you want to call it) in the thread calling out people "exploiting" DD by farming the mobs. The dev said it was completely fine. Would find the quote but lunch is over.

They clarified that the way people were doing it wasn't "exploiting" and you weren't at any risk of getting in trouble (since that was the topic at hand).

However they never said, or gave any indication that they would continue to have the FATE operate that way. Sure, it kind of sucks, but it's also not the end of the world. MMO's change. Shit gets nerfed and buffed constantly. Get used to it.

The heck they aren't. People aren't running dungeons (good source of gear.) People aren't doing story quests (good source of gear.)
They're just leveling through FATES because you can be one of the masses and get exp no matter what gear you have. Just follow the train and spam AoE damage. You end up at level 50 and have no idea how to play your class or the game really for that matter.

Even for the majority of FFXI's life, with forced grouping to even level up, people still reached the level cap with crap gear and no idea how to play their jobs. FATEs aren't the cause and never will be. Bad players are just bad.

That's five dungeons or sixteen leves per level. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Five dungeons per level with tank queue times is already much slower than FATEs without DD. Now imagine that if you're a DPS class and having to wait on the queue. Now imagine that you want to FATE while waiting for a queue. Well you can't go the optimal route of grouping up for FATE exp because you can't be in the FATE group while queueing. The current system leaves a lot to be desired.

SE probably did it to stop the horrible effect it was having on the community. Which is more important that any temporary happiness 100-200k gives some players. I am assuming.

I'm sad that it's gone, it was somewhat fun to mash AOEs and get sweet xp.

But, it was going bad, as in.. Turning the player base against each other.

Communities shouldn't do that.

So they had to change it.

i dont grind fates i grind dungeons and its really obvious when a fate baby is in the group
theyre a a major liability and a burden to people who have bothered to gear up accordingly and learn the mechanics of their own class, the dungeon and others.

Well I'm glad I got PLD and MAR to 50 before then. On that note, I guess a certain infamous troll on my server will have to find another to annoy people now

Not buying this "Fates create stupid players" stuff though; not in a manner that's unique to Fates anyways. Traditional level grinding usually encourages the same brand of sleep walking, with plenty of players hitting max level without learning a thing about properly playing their roles.
