Is 1-20 Too fast?

I like Normal Partying alot more then Leve partys.. you can only do horizon, wells, mines, broken water, and halitali so much until it is just not fun at all anymore. (yea there are other leve camps but they fail compared to these)

Without leves you can go and actually explore the world, I really think most people forget The Uldah areas are only 1 Region in the game.

But that is me, I see the Leves as nothing more then an endless grind no different then going out on our own. I like how they are group based, but they just are not as fun to me as going out and controlling what I kill and my own rate of sp in my groups.

Yes because SP/HR is static and never changes. Time is the variable were discussing not specifically the SP requirement to rank up.

It sure is fast you can push all your battle classes to 20 in 2 big days ,alone doing just behest and grinding but i admit you got to put your brain on the table lol.
I think the fact that people find it too fast or too slow in the end is the result of the emptyness of the game , you got nothing else to do but to get exp.
The only real way to get some quest to do on a regular basis is to improve all your classes at the same time.but even like that you still dont got the feeling to be surrended by stuff to do and i will not talk about the ending game content lol .

My view on this is no its not to fast, i guess it comes down to what sort of player you are in online games , im not online in ff14 as much as other and want to make progress in the game , if it dont then i will end up leaving the game with feeling that it was just not worth it.
Atm i feel first 20 level are just right and curve gets more after lv 20 which is fine , first 20 levels are introducing you to the game anyway and also give you chance to try many jobs/class in game.

Atm i have 2 mid 20 ranks and i started when pc game came out.

I don't think its too fast. If you're physical level 1 and don't know what you're doing then it seems appropriate. It's usually only when you have friends to leve-link and share with at R1 that you can blaze through the first 20 ranks in an hour or two.

Also, I try hard not to forget how horrible 1-20 was during beta and right at release when everyone had to grind on crabs or doblyns to sp. Just awful. I'd rather get through these low ranks quickly so people can start to get to what will be real content, like the upcoming R30 dungeons and the existing NMs.

I agree that currently it's not right, the flow just feels wrong. You shouldn't rush to rank 23 then suddenly hit a wall, i'm sure that's probably put a lot of people off the game because of the sudden change of pace.

1-20...? Who really cares? The game doesn't really start until after 20 anyway. For somebody who hasn't played since beta, I had no idea it was that fast. I only play a couple hours here and there. Plus I didn't even know about Behests until reading this thread... how would I know? Another reality is even at 20 I'm sure I'll still not have spoke to one solitary human being in the game. I'm sure I'll still not have received a single invite to a group or linkshell. Hell I may still not have seen a single English utterance in any public chat channel by R20.

72 hours of play (in group) should be enough to get a single job to rank 50. I don't care on how it's balanced between low ranks and higher ranks, but more than 72 hours in total is grind.

Maybe 100 hours for those who want to solo?
