    Is 1-20 Too fast?

I've seen some speedrun videos online of players playing a new character and showing how fast it takes to get a Bare naked rank 1/phys 1 noob character up to 20. with the right set up and in a group it literally takes about 15 minutes from the time you get out of the starting cutscenes to the time you hit rank 10. Then another hour at the most to hit rank 20. This feat in Final Fantasy XI took approximately 10 hours of dedicated play. And most players didn't head to Valkurm til they had atleast 2 jobs to 10 or 15 and had time to farm the gear they needed to perform a job.

FFXII it took atleast 8 hours of dedicated play to hit the 20's if you were grinding ahead of the story (I know, I faught Alarunes in the desert till 30 with just Vaan and Penelo.)

FFIX took about 6 hours IIRC.

FFVII you hit 20 about the time you left Midgar which was about 5-8 hours.

ffVI I can't even remember how long it took to get to 20.

I feel the first few ranks are too quick. They fly by like a cannonball leaving you feeling like there wasn't as big an accomplishment getting to what would normally be a huge milemarker. Rank 20 is about 1/3rd of the way to cap

But then theres a sudden change in leveling speed. The amount of time it takes to get from 20-50 is three times per level in some cases to what it was for 1-20.

I'm just concerned that the speed it takes to go from 20 then all of a sudden it all tapering off all at once will result in burnout for a lot of players.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

No it's not because the grind is pointless and anyone that argues differently has addictions to gaming.

its only too fast if you want it to be

they did make it alot faster, but at the same time thats what low ranks are, they arent meant to be uber slow, thats what high ranks are for

To me 1-20 is to fast and 40-50 is to long, 20-40 is juuuuust right.

I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

If anything, leveling in general is too slow right now. This coming from someone that thoroughly enjoyed the early FFXI leveling. This game has no low-mid level content outside of solo quests, I'd rather level asap and get it over with because grinding on the same mobs for months is not fun. Heck, I can hardly bring myself to level already and I haven't even made it to 40. That said, however, I do hope that in the future, when/if low-mid level content is added, the leveling curve is adjusted accordingly. I prefer games where leveling is slow, but there is plenty of content along the way so you don't get bored.

Hit the nail on the head right there. I think one major problem is there are no milestones as you level really. In FFXI you were constantly working towards that next milestone that was never that far away and you were moving around to level in different zones. 1-10 solo then off to party in the dunes, at 18 unlock sub job, 20 off to Jeuno and also get Chocobo licence, then of to Qufim, at 24 do your airship pass mission and off to Kahzam and into the jungles, at 30 unlock advanced jobs. Also you had your story missions to do in between and getting your full airship pass. Throw onto that getting that next rank so you can wear that armour or equip that weapon and there was always something to work towards.

For me FFXIV has none of that and there is very little to work towards apart from hit R50 and do it all over again, I just don't get that sense of achievement like I have earnt it.
