I find robots don't fit, not even with magi-tek in the story-line seeing as the story-line for 'adventurers' leads us down the path that we live quite simply and traditionally, magi-tek bodies wouldn't really fit into that.

But i'd like to see something different.

A beastmen race seems most probably in this situation, whether that be a Wolf, Bear, Dragon, Reptile, this would provide some variety to the current races we have which are mainly human-esque.
