There must be some objective or gimmick to the fights or this will fail very fast. Especially because it is only 4v4. i doubt they will fix this though. just like guildhests no one will play it.

Did not get a chance to beta test the pvp because I was not the right level to access the PVP area...so I was surprised that it was not open world like Ballista, with scenery. I never tried arena or even PVP before and not sure what to expect, no references by which I can compare to good or bad Arena PVP. I was honestly REAL distracted by the weapon skill animations creating a light show [shinys]. I have mine turned down in game, thus it kinda took me by surprise seeing max ws animations. With so many peeps saying its boring, it has me wondering now if it is indeed boring.

Hai! I'm Vahl, in ur mmorpgs, sort'n my inventory and putt'n 2 many H's in my name since FFXI..FFXIV Inventory Tetris Champ

Probably because if you were to see an archer kiting the hell out of enemy players like you know they will be you'd be hearing calls for archer nerfs before PvP even were to come out. >.>;;;Back on topic, why do trailers for PVP always involve the characters standing in place just swinging with each other even though no sane PVP player would do this ever? "Let's show a trailer of us playing the game in the most boring way possible! That'll get people excited"
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
"Special PvP-only actions grant immediate recovery from sleep, bind and other enfeeblement effects, guaranteeing these gladiatorial battles will be extremely action-packed. " while i understand why this would be relevant in PvP .. cant we just have shorter CC while in PvP because immediate recovery from enfeeblements and other weaknesses? well.. this totally doesnt fuck over Arc or Sum which rely 100% on debuffs and stuff -_-
its a nice vid promo i like the way they had the bard/archer fighting a mage cuz lets face it against a melee they will just kite them all day
not to be a hater, but this looks really lame and not very innovative at all, all i'm seeing is a 4v4 arena , and slow place combat , must be something to do with crappy global cooldowns ffxiv has as a poors man way to balance a game >.> not hateing honest....then there is fact that it really is a 4v4 WoW arena clone, i mean come on. its 2013 almost 2014 SE we shouldnt be getting this kind of content as a form of pvp, you should know that by now, all u have do is ask your community what they want in pvp, and you will notice this is not what they want, so much for being intouch with you fan base. you apologize to failzor of your last mmo, you learn your lesson, but fail continue to listen, once you sold and done job of makeing the game, what are we just bunch of hamster on a wheel or something? i expected more from you guy's i respected your company and FF franchis but this is got to be a joke.

It's nice that they show PC's hitting other PC's... but, that's not what these PvP teaser or reveal videos are supposed to be about. I can see my character hitting things all day long as i play, i don't see how me seeing the same effects happen to other players is supposed to pump me up.
What we -DO- need to see is examples of the system they're putting in place. Is it just going to be the PvE skillset with trinkets to get out of CC? Is it going to be new skill added for PvP for us to use instead of our normal skillset?
I want to know things about the pvp, since this is it's introduction. If they're introducing a new map or something in the future, then action shots are fine.. but for PvP's -launch- they need to give us something substantial that we can get excited for.
Additional thought: I hope that Square also improves the communication between client/server. I know that there have been problems with melee attacking moving targets even if they're keeping right next to them.. if those kind of problems persist in pvp, then it will be nothing but a kite-fest by archers and/or mages instant cast spells.

This looks terrible.

Most ppl in mmos don't like to pvp because of high pride of their character and watching themselves fall in battle against others tends to leave a depression on said player but, I think said people need to remember, it's a game, it's for fun, and you can always improve yourselves, so instead of high pride, have higher spirits and raise the bar every chance you get.

that standing still while in combat
that back pedaling
It will be a slaughter fest if this is how people will seriously PvP, and it will be hilarious.
that's the entire point of Arena PvP, it's not about completing some gimmick or objective. It's about who is the best at their skill set, and who can adapt best to the challenges they are presented against another player. It will be quick, but that's the point.Damie: There must be some objective or gimmick to the fights or this will fail very fast. Especially because it is only 4v4. i doubt they will fix this though. just like guildhests no one will play it.
