personally i have been gaming for 10+ years and that also includes FPS (first person shooter) games and some RTS (real-time strategy) games. "what I considered to be a good idea is keeping the classical options Ballista similar in XI" even though Ballista was an interesting concept most people dont consider this real PvP like capture the flag, domination and like other more common types of PvP. digging up balls to turn in goals isnt real form of PvP but more like a non-contact sport. some players seek a more contact type PvP where the players them selfs can claim superiority over others which means there is a need to track statistics like a ranking system.

personally i like to see arena type system where small pre-set teams can enter and battle ground type where a single player can join in and play with others. but i would like to see a new concepts or FFxiv spin off of these older favorable PvP systems. Chocobo Races, Colosseum (last man standing / small team), battlefield (spin-off of battle grounds) like capture the flag, domination, etc... i am not saying we cant use FFxi ballista concepts but at the same time i dont want people to say that FFxiv is just an upgraded version of FFxi. a blend of new concepts and old favorable systems is what is needed.

personally i think as far as balancing of classes, i think it should be done in a PvP setting first then adjust PvE monsters to the classes after
