Why is Wanderer Palace gear better than AK?

I have been looking at the stats and to me AK gear provides better stats for DPS. Also, WP gear has a lot less physical defense than AK, but it does have much better mag defense.

If it matters, im a dragoon.

why would a dps role care about parry? shouldnt he only care about dps...

Its because the WP one is leather, for monks.

No, meaning that because it is a leather piece, it naturally has less pdef and more mdef.

When dealing with gear, 90% of the time you should only focus on the stats it gives, as long as you can wear it. And that means 90% of the time go with the higher ilvl item as long as it has strength, because strength is a much more useful stat than the offstats for damage.

I would not worry about the pdef/mdef at all.
