If you hate your mother, all that is good and just in the world, choose Paladin.
Not srs, I liked my Paladin but after trying War it's just a more interesting job to be honest.
Decide what kind of player you are, if you aim to always be on top of the latest content then PLD.
WAR scales based on gear and if things continue to hold true so long as he is around the correct gear level for the encounter he will perform just fine.

Since The release schedule goes BC - CT (next) - BC - CT, War will without buffs likely always find BC harder than a PLD whenever a BC release comes out until the CT comes out 3 months later.
You can always push yourself through it regardless but that seems how it will be.

Are you ready for carnage, gore, and the blood of your enemies to cover your body like a scarlet cloak of death?

If yes, then /huzzah, welcome to the ranks of the Warrior.

Warriors are fun to play but they will hold your group back in coil (or rather, they will require the group to be generally more geared and skilled overall to accomplish the same content). Not that it can't be done, but you won't be able to MT anything either, and even as OT you will be more likely to die from spike damage.

IMO PLD are pretty boring on the way up to 50 but once you're tanking more challenging content they become more engaging because cycling cooldowns is important and using your dps off GCD abilities appropriately is somewhat engaging. They aren't as fun to play as WAR, but they aren't that boring.

I think Warrior is an awsome job. It has some problems, but they do not come into play until endgame. It is a fun and dynamic class, and you have a lot of different abilities. Still you will be playing as a tank, so like pld/gld you will mainly focus on hate gathering and control, as well as self healing and, to a lesser extent than pld, damage mitigation.

depends on how fast you intend to level

if you're gonna fate grind to 50 in a couple days, you'll regret not being a paladin once you hit 50

if you're not in a rush and taking the scenic route, go for warrior as there are undoubtedly some class adjustments headed their way in the coming patches

My FC, too, is heavily PLD. I have an interest in tanking as I was a NIN tank in XI. I like being busy as a tank. For that reason I've decided to go for WAR. I've already got BRD to 50, WHM is 41 and on its way to 50. MRD is only 19 so far. But my plan is to have options to bring to the table, depending on what the group is doing and who is or is not available to come. I do really enjoy playing MRD so far.

As for it not being as useful end game right now, to my mind that's temporary. I know SE's history. They're always making job adjustments. One day's under-valued job is tomorrow's uber class. And vice versa. You just pick something you like and bear down thru the dog days.
