Just because you can vendor a valuable item, such as a +3 mat, then "go get it again" later, does not solve the problem of inventory in this game, and neither did adding an extra 20 slots to inventory.

In FFXI we had to do quests to increase our puny inventory limit... now we get 100 (which is more than normally you can get in 11) right off the bat. Stop complaining xD
Only advice I can give to people is to use the market as your inventory space. That is, toss what you haven't used without hesitation. EVERYTHING is functional as a non-durable good in this market, take advantage of it. Don't save that dodoskin set that your miner grew out of for the day you'll level botanist. Get rid of it and just buy a new set when you do. You save inventory and help a leatherworker out.
You've got the gil, I know you do.
can you please explain with this mass knowledge of what stacks to 999 in your main inventory?Pretty much this. I had 80/80/80 character space max mog house but not mac mog locker. If worst comes to worst npc stuff. This game started out with more inventory space then the ffxi did, and may still have more inventory space then ffxi. 100/100/100 for youself and 2 retainer. Plus most stuff is stacked to 999 AND crystal/shards are in their own inventory. (unlike ffxi) While in ffxi stuff was under a 12 or 99 stack.

Sorry, but I find hoarding fun. A game that allows me to play like a rat-pack is a game I find fun. I want to fill my inventory, bags, bank slots, mog house, retainer, guild bank, whatever they call the storage in this game with dozen of I-don't-know-if-I'll-use-it-again items.
This my vision of fun. I want to have fun in this game, like I have had in a lot of other crafting oriented games (Eve, Vanguard, Perpetuum).
I agree. You're doing a bit too much hoarding. I personally believe there's enough inventory space.
Don't misunderstand, no complaining at all, but simply a request. I've 7/8 Disciples of the Hand over Rank 30 and the 3 Disciples of the Land over Rank 20 (I level them all at the same time), and I wouldn't have asked if it hadn't become this time-consuming to manage stuff.
The fact is that to manage the inventory and the retainers' items takes me at least 15 minutes daily. I've two Retainers, one with Blacksmith/Armorer/Goldsmith/Carpenter stuff, another with Alchemist/Leatherworker/Weaver/Event items stuff. Of course, I could gain more space if I'd just discard, for instance, the 2 sets of Dream equip from the Starlight Celebration or the few Usagi Kabuto I've left; but I'm also thinking about new adventurers who'll come to Eorzea in our guild and might want those.
Also, it's not that easy to “simply get again the item you previously discarded”. It depends on luck sometimes, if a monster drops it soon or not, or if you can craft it. And it depends on how much time one can afford to spend daily in Eorzea.
So my inventories are in order, and since they are I don't even use the sort function, since I took my time to manually sort them. To have more space I should simply discard stuff, like:
- The previously mentioned Dream and Usagi equip, but I already explained why I'm keeping them.
- Repairing materials I don't need, but I want to keep those in case someone need assistance. I might discard those Hempen Fents, ok, but what if I see a new adventurer in Gridania who asks for repair and there're no fents in the Market Wards there?
- HQ versions. And in this case why should I discard, for instance, 4 Iron Fish Hooks +3 if I was lucky enough to create them? I'd use one for the Bamboo Fishing Rod and if the tool doesn't HQ, I'd try again later when I'm more experienced. Creating Iron Nuggets +3 is not that easy, procure the materials and all.
I remember once when I ended a synth with 3 Copper Ores +3 and 1 Zinc Ore +3, resulting in 12 normal Brass Nuggets, while I already had used up too quickly the HQ nuggets I had before. And getting HQ Ores at my rank is not that easy, either. Yesterday I got 2 Iron Ores +3 and couldn't get the remaining 2. Same thing for a Limonite +3 and Iron Sand +3 I'd need. Considering how uncommon it was to get them, I'm not convinced in discarding or selling them. These, of course, are just a few of the dozens of examples I could make, just to give an idea.
I've many other +3 items I got from monsters, and that's the same, sometimes they simply don't drop them, even after hours of slaying, so I keep them if I happen to find them.
If I get rid of the stuff mentioned in the first two points, I'd probably gain around 30 spaces, but in that case it wouldn't be fine for the way I live it in Eorzea (many may not understand this, I know).
I, instead, understand your points and thank you for sharing them. I'd simply like to have more liberty, being able to craft Classes-specific equipments or just some gear for aesthetics, and to do this, since I don't want to discard the repairing materials for others or my HQ stuff, I'd need more space, and as a crafter I wouldn't see a better way than to create by myself some special bag, so that only those who need it, upgrade it (Choice). But it's not a complaint, just a request.
Take it easy.See ya!

While I agree to an extent, I'm not the kind of person who likes to have each and every space in my inventory or retainers filled to the brim. I use that space to move a lot of things around. I level a lot of classes, not all the time but enough that saving a lot of old armor, or multiple weapons is necessary especially as tossing it out and purchasing another would cost about 200k. I don't save everything, but I do save up what needs to be to rank up and that can turn out to be quite a bit. 95 of 100 slots in my inventory are already just gear and weapons. That's RIDICULOUS. Even after repairing and just tossing what I couldn't sell, my inventory is quite full. Not entirely, but enough that makes farming really painful.
I don't belong to an 'end game' shell or one that does a lot of events that make gil. I'm maining in Alchemy and the price of glue gets so heavily undercut on my server, especially with the implementation of quest mobs dropping items making it less valuable. Same with dyes, and every other consumable. So tossing old equipment just for 'space' is a little unreasonable with the inflation, and low level gear costing upwards in the one hundred thousands.
More inventory space may not be necessary, but working out how the inventory currently works would be better. I don't see how an item on your body counts as being in your inventory at the same time. While it could still show up in the list, the status of "worn" could be attached to it. Seeing as we carry so much around, being able to change jobs on the fly, it seems like a reasonable proposition at this point.
