    Exploding Inventory

    Hello adventurers!

I'd like to talk about a little problem I'm having during my travels in Eorzea and ask the community rep here, if they'll ever read this, to give me, if possible, some word on this matter.

In the last few weeks, managing the items in my Inventory and in the ones of my two Retainers has gotten worse and worse. I'm really out of space: 99/100 on both Retainers, with some +3 items on their bazaars (that I don't want to sell), and around 90/100 on my character before every regional levequest, gathering or any type of other exploration.

Since I'm an explorer-type adventurer, going out with such a limited space is very... limiting. And, particularly, it's very time-consuming.
I run out of those 10 spaces pretty quickly, so I've to discard the items I don't need and put in my bazaar what I don't want to discard, and those other 10 spaces ends quickly as well, so items start going in the Loot List, making the discard process even more time-consuming.
Also, having those 10 items in bazaar makes other adventurers lose their time as well if they open it, since those are items I don't want to sell and that they can't buy.

So my request to Yoshida-san is:

Could we have more space in our inventories in time for the 1.18 patch of mid-June?

I know there're other priorities, but I wouldn't have opened this discussion if things weren't starting to become tedious, at least for someone like me who doesn't spend much time in Eorzea and can't afford to spend so much between managing items and discarding them.

Soon I'll have to craft Velveteen, Toad Leather, Steel Nuggets and so on, and I can't possibly do it at the moment. I'd have to discard the HQ items (+3 stuff for later crafts) I obtained, but those are not very common and I know something about looking for a +3 item during battles or gathering and not not being able to find it after days of search.

I thought about a few possibilities to add more inventory space by ourselves, like crafting some sort of special bags, or obtaining them through a few sidequests. These two options would also be more satisfactory.
This has become a big limit for an all-round crafter-gatherer-explorer like me, so please raise its priority, Yoshida-san and company!

If there're other adventurers out there in my same condition, you're welcome to wave your hand here.

    Great Adventures to everyone!

I came in expecting pants to explode and retainers to pop...I am dissapointed. >_>

But really, this can be fixed by not saving everything you can't use in the immediate future.

It's called management. Stop hoarding stuff.

Having dealt with Final Fantasy XI with a fraction of the storage space and pretty much the same amount of items if not more, the amount of space we are granted in XIV is almost preposterous.

Get rid of what you do not need in the immediate future. Learn to manage your space. If we were given 1,000 more inventory slots, players in 2 months would still complain "we don't have enough". Of course you have enough. Learn to minimalize.

Pretty much this. I had 80/80/80 character space max mog house but not mac mog locker. If worst comes to worst npc stuff. This game started out with more inventory space then the ffxi did, and may still have more inventory space then ffxi. 100/100/100 for youself and 2 retainer. Plus most stuff is stacked to 999 AND crystal/shards are in their own inventory. (unlike ffxi) While in ffxi stuff was under a 12 or 99 stack.

can you please explain with this mass knowledge of what stacks to 999 in your main inventory?

Sorry, but I find hoarding fun. A game that allows me to play like a rat-pack is a game I find fun. I want to fill my inventory, bags, bank slots, mog house, retainer, guild bank, whatever they call the storage in this game with dozen of I-don't-know-if-I'll-use-it-again items.

This my vision of fun. I want to have fun in this game, like I have had in a lot of other crafting oriented games (Eve, Vanguard, Perpetuum).

I wish people would stop blaming the game for their poor inventory management skills.

yep, as a crafter you definitaly gotta learn to not keep everything you might need in the future.
only keep what's needed to skill-up, but don't forget to keep it to 1-2 different grind crafts at max.
especially when it comes down to grinding a craft job you gotta count in to have atleast 1000-2000 pieces of materials for each craft, for the next few levels.
i'm pretty good on inventory space on me and my 2 retainers.
1 retainer holds my crafting mats, one holds equip i don't currently use and items that i sell (fish/materials/etc), and on me i usually have the equip for my current class i play, and all craft tools/equipment.

This is different than in FFXI. I spent a lot of time in FFXI managing my inventory, but I never felt like I had to make decisions I would majorly regret. If worst came to worst in FFXI, you could offload your inventory to your alts, make another alt, or mail items to yourself if they were must-have items. In FFXIV though, we are at a choke point with many many many more items, 4 different variants of each item, and mainly due to the far more in depth crafting system. More inventory space is certainly needed, or the ability to have more retainers, or a mail system, or an auction house system with unlimited auction space.

For example, the inventory limits make you lean toward vendoring any +1 +2 or +3 because that way you can maintain a stack of regular items. But the existence of those items should make you lean toward saving them (or selling them) for an important craft. But because of the systems in the game, you have to vendor them. What a waste.
