    Greetings,

The development team will be carefully examining the pros and cons of implementing an exchange system like this, while also giving careful consideration towards items that are implemented in the future and the value of items that can be exchanged.

A fool-proof way to prevent abuse is simply to only allow exchange/refund of equipment without spiritbond. There's no real reason why a player would have something that isn't being used, unless it was a mistake.

..Probably because people switch their mains and want to get rid of stuff they no longer will be using? In XI and 1.0 it wasn't a problem, but ARR is heavily restricted in "recycling."

Can't really abuse the system since you also can't go over Myth cap as is.

I really don't see the harm in someone simply exchanging a piece of gear they have or haven't spirit bonded. It also depends on the type of system they would be able to implement. Would we have a system so we could exchange item for item like MNK DL head for BRD DL head, Or would we have a system to allow us to exchange our gear in for tomes perhaps a 20%-45% of the total cost of the item the percent left up to the DEVs.

I know that it was said that at some point they would lower the cost of DL/Relic gear but idk when that would be. But in the mean time I would like to exchange my now unused DL gear for tomes to go toward another piece of gear for a future job. Also would like to add that unless SE comes up with new Materia levels where DL/Relic can turn in to Tier V for future Crafting gear then Materia Assu. is a total waste for these items.

If anyone can think of Pros and Cons please list them.

Pros- Making use of gear that would other wise sit in my inventory as it becomes outdated, Help gear another job
Cons- I can't really think of any Abuse that can happen. Maybe if it was Item for Item there could be something, But if there is maybe there could be a limit on trades per week/month.

But I would really prefer trading gear for a certain percent of the total cost of the item.

Back in WoW when they implemented the trade-back system, we had people who would buy something, go to a raid or dungeon, and in the middle of the raid say, "hey guys wait for me just 5 min, I gotta go trade my gear".

So he goes back to the NPC, sell back his gear and rebuy them again to extend the trade-back time limit, and ask a warlock to pull him back to the raid entrance.

With FFXIV where Darklight sets don't have slots nor is there an enchanting system, it is even more tempting to do this just so one doesn't "buy something and immediately get a drop to replace it".

Hence bonded items should never be traded back for its full value.

Unbonded items, definitely. If you haven't used it ever, it's reasonable to accept that you bought it by mistake. It happens. So a tradeback for unbonded gear is great, just like how we could buy back stuff we sold accidentally to a vendor.

I don't feel uncomfortable with throwing away gear after it has served its purpose. There's nothing wrong with that.

On a related note, when they (WoW) also implemented trading of loot drops for a certain amount of time after getting the drop, it brought out the worst in people again:
    • People would NEED even if they had it, just so they can advertise to sell it immediately.
    • People would NEED for their friends, so if you're the only PUG you virtually are rolling against more people than you should be.
    • People became careless because they know they can make a mistake.

Thanks as this would be a great thing to have for leveling up another job, without having to grind around 5000 tomes.
