yeah you probably want to run CFX or SLI if you're worried about getting 60+ at all times, and dont skimp on CPU get something good, a quality i5 or i7.

I'm running a Core i7 990X with dual 580s at 2560x1600 and so far im getting 60+ at all times as far as I've noticed, even during heavy fates

Why? I found it to be a burden on older systems and have gotten used to window transparency being off.

Getting 60fps solid most of the times except during FATEs and while standing in crowded cities where the fps drops to 30-35FPS
I do have an SSD. I found that even though the game does not stream zones, it does stream NPCs. On my old PC (with a fast, but traditional HDD), I would have to wait for NPCs to pop up. If I let them out of my sight, I'd have to wait for them to reload. It was painful when I had to turn in Levequests in Ul'Dah, because I had to wait for both the Levemete NPC and the Leve acceptor NPC to appear.

Aside from being OC'ed, my system is fairly close to yours in power. I think that I may problems may stem from being too picky.

I'm running Titan at 2560x1600, core i7 with 32 gigs of ram. I get solid 60fps on max (sometimes a little more). I never see it dip below 50 in dense areas.

I've got a gtx780 running at 1300MHz, and a 2500k at 5GHz. With the 15th update, in packed areas I get 20fps at 1024x768 and 1920x1200 -- I used to get at least 40 ! How could you possibly be getting 50? Even the fastest i7 is only 30% faster than what I've got in games that use 4 threads or less (ARR seems to use only 3).....

don't ask me how. I just am. I'm not a hardware expert. I just throw lots of money at my computer every year for work reasons and as an added bonus it works well as a gaming rig too.

the only time I've ever REALLY see it dip below 50 is when that behemoth fate pops it drops down to 30ish I think (which is acceptable). That stuff is nuts.

everyone put your epeens away... the game is CPU limited. Removing shadows is the biggest fps gain. I run max on i5 Haswell 4670k at 4.4Ghz and 2x GTX 680 in SLI and still get 30-45 in cities. everywhere else its above 90 and in crazy fates i get like 15-20.

Can't throw money at bad code, i am happy overall though because my friends crap pc plays at max at 20-30 fps and he considers that "no lag" and is blissful he didnt have to upgrade
