    PS3 Keyboard Options

I'm currently looking to pick up a cheap keyboard to use just for FFXIV on the PS3 - just wondering if anyone has any recommendations that they'd like to share.

The stores near where I live are pretty much useless - they couldn't even tell me how long the cable was on the wired keyboard that they had in stock, and they also couldn't guarantee that the wireless keyboards would work.

What I really need to know is whether a PS3 can recognise all USB 2.0 keyboards whether they're wireless or not, or if there's something specific that's needed. Also if you're using one that works really nicely, feel free to tell me!

I really want to stick with this game, but typing while in a dungeon is an absolute nightmare without a keyboard. :/

As is my understanding, yes, almost all USB keyboards will work on the PS3. I have heard some people saying they have issues getting wireless ones to work, but I used a wired so I can't really comment on that.

I used a wireless keyboard at first, but switched to one with cord on it later. It's not that it wouldn't work, but every now and then the thing would wig out on me in a dungeon or wherever there was strain on the system. Whenever I tried to type something it would be like somebody was mashing on the keys (it'd come out as incoherent jibberish). Switched to a corded one, no problems so far (except that I have to be right in front of the TV).
This was the one I used:

I got a Logitech USB keyboard that they specifically branded for use with a PS3. As near as I can tell that just means it has a longer USB cable than they'd use on a regular computer keyboard. Its cable is 8 feet long, which is a comfortable TV to couch distance in a lot of living rooms.
    here's the one I use:

There's also the option of getting a USB extension cable if you want to use a computer keyboard whose only problem is that its cord is too short.

mostly any USB key board will work I tested this fact with a $9.89 USB keyboard made by GE pretty much the cheapest keyboard I could find and it worked like it was made for the PS3 LOL

I picked up a cheap $15 Logitech keyboard at Best Buy. Any USB keyboard will work.

I don't use a wireless, so can't comment on that.

I use a bluetooth keyboard that came with my ipad cover/case.

Works flawless, lightweight and no wires... this ain't 1996.

Edit* I was just being silly =P

    Thanks for the replies.

@Firefaux - That's the impression that I'm getting, that wired ones tend to work - but knowing my luck, I'd probably pick the one brand that doesn't. My desktop used a wireless desktop set-up where the mouse and keyboard shared a USB receiver, so I suspect that might have a few problems (it's also currently in storage).

@Niwashi - That sounds perfect - but the Amazon seller won't ship to the UK and I can't find the same keyboard on amazon.co.uk, which is frustrating. I might just have to go with a similar Logitech keyboard and buy an extension cable separately.

@Jinx - It might not be 1996, but I can't really afford to spend that much on a keyboard that I'll only be using for one game! Not to mention I prefer the feel of traditional keyboard keys for typing.

My brother and I both purchased ONN brand wireless keyboards to use for FFXIV.
Both models were under $20 each. From my experience with the PS3, I've never found a USB device that didn't work.
