Poor SLI support

Current specs:

I7-4770k @ 4.5ghz
2x Nvidia GTX 780 SLI
8GB RAM
1080p monitor 120HZ
Maximum graphics settings, Full screen mode
Latest beta drivers dated Sept 30th

Problem:

SLI utilization is extremely inconsistent and occasionally worse than single card performance. In major cities and FATES my FPS is 40 and my GPU utilization for both GPUs is 40-55%. When outside of town GPU utilization radically spikes from 45-95% usage, causing FPS to fluctuate between 60-180 FPS. In dungeons such as AK I never see above 75% utilization with dips into 50%.

This is extremely frustrating because I can maintain 120+ FPS at certain times and the game runs super smooth. When I see 45% utilization on both GPUs and stuttering in random unpopulated areas in the open it makes no sense either.

There is no throttling occurring on my end. CPU temps are 65*C and both GPUs are 75*C which is well below any components throttling point.

The game supports SLI but very poorly. RARELY do I see 95% utilization and it only happens in desolate areas. SE please address this massive problem. A PC with my specs can handle any AAA title on max at 1080p but more importantly with both GPUs at 98-100% utilization. This issue is on your end.

and have no problem

sli runs perfekt 20-25% GPU
CPU 30%

GPU Tem 41°
CPU 43°

fps over 160 in all terains
only in mass fate drops the fps to ~100

install not the beta driver

install the latest driver 4 testing

From what I heard the game doesn't even support SLI as of yet.

It doesn't officially support SLI yet. Anyone saying they run perfect on an SLI system is either lying, doesn't understand how to monitor FPS, or they're an idiot! Anytime I see someone claiming their SLI system runs flawlessly I ask them to go stand in front of any dungeon entrance...and they're always treated to some wonky performance drops.

Funny because I have 2 Titan Jr's and the only game that runs like crap is this one.


I can see that FFXIV has an SLI profile in Nvidia Control Panel, as noted by the "occasional" 95% GPU usage on both cards. But the implementation is absolutely awful. I'm averaging 40-60% usage anywhere in the world. SE needs to clean up their code. I mean, the game is only using DX9... in 2013.

Yes the game has awful SLI support but to be fair I haven't played a single MMORPG with good SLI support,

I ended up selling my Reference GTX 780 SLI setup and going for an aftermarket design that overclocks on the higher end. I'm just sick of games not properly supporting SLI. With the gaming era we're in today, most games are optimized for consoles only.

My performance with a single card is drastically better than SLI ever was. I get less frame inconsistencies now. I can still drop to lower 40s in very popultated aetherytes, but I don't get any 20-30fps anymore.

I also am running Titans in SLI as well as running in Nvidia Surround (5760x1080).

The SLI support is terrible, In small areas things run great (100+ FPS) and the cards are at 80%+ utilized but in crowded areas things run slow (30-40FPS) and my cards are pegged at only 40-50% utilized. It seems like a client / server problem where the server can't send out the information tot he client fast enough in crowded areas so the client is stuck waiting on screen render.

Hopefully it will get looked at by SE.

Unfortunately it's more of a driver issue than anything. This game has terrible CrossfireX support as well. GPU 2 randomly goes to 99% usage, and when it doesn't it jumps up and down and the stutter is headache-inducing when it happens. 1 GPU for me now..
