Could they make the White Mage wear their hood in a future patch?

It's been bugging me ever since I became a Lv50 White Mage. The Dragoons and Warriors can already do something similar with their helmets, so why can't the White Mages do it with their hoods? I know it's not going to be top priority for the dev team but could they at least take this idea into consideration? I'm sure all the White Mages out there would appreciate it.

I'd like this too, but personally I'd prefer it if we could take Darklight hoods off before anything else like this - my character is identical to most other post-Praetorium healers bar the face (which you don't usually see) and the weapon :/

They already looked into it when they decided to make the visors move for helmets like the war and drg af. Sadly they said it wasn't possible. I don't really remember why but I think it was a model thing, I think they should remake the body armor for whm so that the hood could be put down and up. I mean I know they don't want to remake something that's been done but I think it would be only fair and worth it for our enjoyment. Been wanting this forever

The reason they gave was because there is because you can have a head slot as well, so hood up with a hat doesn't work.

That should be a simple enough fix though, when you /hood it would make the head piece disappear on the model, not like they don't alrdy have an option that hides the head piece so a /hood could just force hide the head piece in question.

Its too bad AF2s are just cheap palette swaps of the AF1s. They could have made WHM's AF2 something that takes up a body/head slot with the hood up but with a very WHM AF design.

They'd have to swap out the circlet, remove the hood from the body piece and make a hood-only item for the head slot in order to make that happen, if I understand correctly what the devs have already said about it.

yeah i can see that being an issue but like others have said i doesnt seem like something that they cant work around. i mean it wouldnt be that hard to prioritize the hood up display over your head gear if you have the hood up display turned on.
and most times its an armor like DL that has the hood up by default and you simply want to put it down. in that case you cant put any head gear on anyway.

what i heard was that the models were just not designed to be put down or up. and as a character modeler myself, i understand that it wouldnt be possible the way it is now. there only so much geometry thats put into the hood area to bend it, if there isnt enough it would be really hard edged, stretched, texture streched also. and if theres any ambient occlusion baked into the texted it would show a dark shadow on the crease of the hood when its put up. not to mention it would need to either be a model swap which they wont do because that uses more memory then they need or they would need a rig with some joints set up to bend the hood.

so yeah the way it is now it really isnt possible. but im sure they can make it happen. it would take alot of work and it would be remaking assets they already made but i think it would be worth it to do so.

They wouldnt be able to do that. well technically they could but that would look horrible. there since the hood would be a seperate model, when the hood is down it would be fine but when its up there would be a visible seam. the only proper way to do it is to manipulate the smooth bind, which just means that its editing how the geometry stretches with the rig joints. but they would need to add more geometry, more joints if there are any in the body peice already, or do a model swap but would double that items memory usage and that just wouldnt happen.

also they would need to edit the texture of the whole model so the extra geometry thats now visble will have texture on it. and that means editing the UVs >.<
its alot of stuff to change for each hooded model but again i would think its worth it. at least for important armor pieces like whm and DL

The real reason is that it would require a separate model, which they don't want to add due to...*drumroll*... PS3 limitations.
