Not true. I doubt the Lightning FATE event will be the last of its kind.
We may even see craftable statless gear that just has a unique look for the Vanity system. We know we get to make furniture items for houses. Would be silly not to utilize that for equipment also.
FATEs, Dungeons, Raids, DoL/DoH even PvP may all see some way to pick up unique gear sets.
