Xbox Controller Issue on PC

So, I am having a problem where my controller will randomly stop functioning for a few seconds. It seems like it freezes, and acts as if the button is held down when this occurs (if I am moving foreward, my caracter will keep moving while this controller freeze happens). The below linked post seems to have had the same issue, but has no real resolution stated (the last post mentions reinstalling the game, but that didnt help in my case).

I have had this problem with an official wired xbox 360 controller, as well as with a PowerA Xbox 360 Airflow Controller (separate drivers installed for them, so i dont think its a driver issue). Below are my system specs:

OS - Windows 8 Pro 64-bit
RAM - 8GB
Processor - Intel Core 2 Extreme Q6850 quad-core
Internet up/down - 25/5

Drivers for both controllers are up to date (though I can't find an official xbox 360 controller driver for windows 8). Any help would be much appreciated (if you need any more info, I would be happy to supply it).

Also, it seems to be something on my computers side. My laptop runs it just fine, and the hardware specs on that are lower. just dont have a clue what .

It happened from time to time for me, I think it could be ghosting when too many events from the controller is happening and the system/game is working through the event queue. Can be annoying at time.

Uhm, the problem might be that XBOX360 controller is still not officially supported under windows 8. However the XBOX360 controller drivers can be installed - download installation for Windows 7, after downloading, right click installer>properties and set compatibility setting to Windows 7, apply, and install. Might be worth of try

Didn't know that. Interesting to see that a Microsoft product does not support all Microsoft Operating Systems.
Still I've not had this issue in games I play through Steam Big Picture.

I have tried this already unfortunately . I'm going to be installing Windows 7 again to see if this alleviates the issue, however. Will update after i reinstall FFXIV (will be tonight im sure, lol).

just backup the game folder, so you dont have to download everything again...

I did . I backed up the installation from my laptop, actually, just in case it was an issue with the files on my desktop. I'm copying the files back over to my desktop right now.
