    Game Breaking Bug Question

I'm making this post just to see if anyone else has any similar dealings with SE and game breaking bugs and knows if SE has any wiggle room for recompense that deal with game-breaking bugs.

    Backstory:

I recently had a friend who encountered a bug (see approved bug report here). Sadly, I don't think he will be coming back to the game due to this bug. After several GM tickets, calls to their support line, and the bug post here -- he was still stuck and unable to advance in the game even weeks later. During this time his free trial ran out and he has decided that he will not resubscribe to the game again just to find out if his character is no longer stuck or not. Which is completely understandable to me, but at the same time unfortunate as I hate to lose a gaming friend when I think the issue may possibly be fixed in the hotfix tomorrow.

Now, I'm sure some of you are just going to say that "He could have leveled another job" or "He could have leveled a craft" while he waited for his issue to be resolved. Yes, it's true that nothing would have stopped him from doing those things. However, he had already made a new character on a new server (he was a 1.0 player) to participate in our static group of real life friends. So in those over 2 weeks that he was unable to advance, everyone else is already well into the current end-game and he was and is still stuck. It was disheartening to the spirit of the game for him more-so than a true setback per-say.

So, if anyone else has had any dealings with SE on similar issues such as this I would love to hear from you. I hate to see him leave due to this issue, but I can understand why he would.

If i remember correctly, you can speak to some elezen outside the workshop (it's one of the buildings around mordhona) to get back in. The building is close to where you get your garlean outfits.

It's not quiet that simple guys, it is an acknowledged bug by the responding GM. The guards outside the workshop will not let him back inside the workshop. As a matter of fact those NPCs will not respond to him in any way, shape or form.

If you view the link to the bug report, you would see the full issue -- as well as a screenshot that displays a quest marker in an inaccessible area of the map.

Hmm, that's odd because I think I also once accidentally went out and then was able to get back in. Try talking to all NPC in that area? I remember the guy didn't have any indication to him, just a normal NPC

I dont see any indications from your post and the other thread you linked that, GM accepted it as bug, or both of them have tried to talk to the NPC.
A quest marker in a strange area of the map is the indication that the quest marker actually inside one of the building there. You can see it when the quest try to point us to Waking Sand.

I hope your friend's problem can be resolved then.

    Maybe this post will help:

Just walk out the West gate and drop, you should see them. If you're on another part of that quest, let me know.

Appreciate the suggestion, but he completed Everything She Does is Magiteck, it's the advancing to the next storyline quest that was the issue. As ZohnoReecho mentioned, it's like the game flagged him as having accepted the next quest when he didn't -- which coincidentally doesn't allow him to reenter the workshop.

@ZohnoReecho, I work in tech support for a large company myself and I can guarantee I would loose my job if I took even half as long as they have to respond to his issue. I know he told the GM that he was perfectly fine with having his character rolled back and losing some levels/equipment if it meant he would be able to redo the quests and continue playing.

Probably the game required you to flag that mission or interact with the exit to toggle on the entrance guard.
Even if it's not common this could have been fixed faster :/

Please have them try to go back where they started it. Which is the cliff people like to jump off on their chocobos while running west from Revenant's Toll. They are at the bottom of the cliff almost tucked in the hole. Just walk out the West gate and drop, you should see them. I think it is terrible that they have languished this long, I used to pop in the bug forums to help people out but took a break. I feel bad for your friend, they shouldn't have been stuck without assistance this long. Please have them try to go to the location I mentioned and see if it lets them go from there. Fingers crossed that if nothing suggested fixes this, then maybe the patch today will.

    Edit:
Appreciate the suggestion, but he completed Everything She Does is Magiteck, it's the advancing to the next storyline quest that was the issue. Yes, I found others that completed the "Everything She Does is Magiteck", but got 90k, or returned before getting access to Cid's Workshop. Their marker showed the quest in an inaccessiable area and yet when they went to the little hole by the cliff and spoke to the npcs, it reflagged them and allowed them to access the shop. I found about 5 people that said they completed Everything She Does is Magiteck, were stuck, but after heading to the NPCs by the cliff it was sorted. Maybe they changed it, but thought it was worth a shot. If they already tried the NPCs by the hole at the bottom of the cliff then I can dig further, but that seems to be the general way others solved it eventually.
