well, they ARE the models, just with no/bad lighting on them so its hard to fairly judge what they look like. You're making it sound as if the models are somehow different- they're not, they're just not rendered the same way.

When the lighting and shading are so poor that you can't even make out texture detail, it may as well be a different model. They can give you a general feel, but the OP's request definitely wanted a good picture of what the armor actually looks like, which I don't feel XIVDB gives.



Sidenote: I'm not trying to dish the people who work on XIVDB Models, btw (I know at least one of their devs frequents this forum). Putting something like that together takes quite a bit of effort, and it's an effort I do appreciate. I just don't consider it a stand in for normal screenshots....yet.

We agree its pretty wank, it is very hard to replicate. The lighting system SE use is very complex and hopefully one day we can figure it all out. The gear looks very nice in game!

the lighting/contrast on their viewer is so messed up that its hard to get a good idea of the looks.
