Warrior - Problem with Garuda NM

    Hi everyone.
Today I've started doing tries to Garuda NM.

First I did so as level 44 with duty equipment, and we decided to leave since we couldn't reach even 10%.

Now 46 and 45 job quest done I thought about giving it a try and the first one went almost perfect but we wiped at 3%.
However, after that one, I lost the aggro (or enmity) surprisingly and I didn't know why.

I always start using Tomahawk, then Heavy Swing -> Skull Sunder -> Butcher's Block.

After that I use Heavy Swing -> Maim -> Storm's Path and Inner Beast whenever I can between rotations.

I've never had any problem with aggro but this time it was impossible to have it stable.

I told my party members to wait until I did the first rotation to start attacking or healing but, I don't know why, after that first rotation Garuda just goes rampage attacking everyone and moving from here to there.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Try tomahawk, flash, heavy swing, skull sunder, butchers, then rotate heavy to butchers 2-3 more times and bang another flash in there for good measure. Watch your aggro bar above your name.

    without flash set:
Tomahawk > Butcher's Block (just the one ability if snap enmity may be an issue) > Butcher's combo x2 > Storm's Eye combo > repeat BBx2 > SE combo rotation

Weave any cool downs between GCDs, don't double up on abilities between GCDs or you'll fudge your GCD timing (which isn't a huge issue, but it's inefficient).

Just do Butcher's Block combo as many times as needed until enmity is secured and then begin rotations on your other stuff. If there's nothing to stun in the fight (and there's not as far as I remember), throw in Brutal Swing between combo skills for more damage. You won't be facing terrible spike damage in this fight either (dodge slipstream) so firing off Berserk / Internal Release at the start of the fight as well as hitting Infuriate >> Unchained to remove the damage penalty is going to cement aggro on you. I'm not saying do all this in every single fight in the game, but if you're having enmity problems, Garuda's not going to move after that, and you can start working in your Maim combo once enmity is set. No need for Flash. It's weaksauce compared to bashing her face in with an axe.

As an edit here, this is for the beginning of the fight. You should be using abilities intelligently after you solve your enmity problem, but blowing everything at the beginning is going to keep the boss on you if you can't accomplish that otherwise.

    Personally I would start with
    Butcher Combo
    Vengence
    Storm Combo
then hit Unchained->Berserk->Inner Release (don't just hit them all at once, work them into the combos so your combo isn't interrupted)

    and continue with:

    Butcher Combo
    Butcher Combo
    Storm Combo

for the rest of the fight, and you shouldn't have any trouble with agro.

And I would save Inner Beast for when you need healing right now, and not just use it on cooldown. It doesn't generate enough agro to be worth stopping your normal rotation for it, and when you drop wrath stacks, you're losing 10% crit which also helps you generate more agro.

    Thank a lot everyone!

    I will try your options.

Problem was since I never had any problems with just one Butcher combo in duties, Titan or Ifrit found myself lost when Garuda was the first one.

But I'll give it a try to use two times or three the Butcher's Combo.

    Again, lots of thanks

Tomahawk, then Heavy Swing -> Skull Sunder -> Butcher's Block.
That's really all you need for the normal mode fight IMO.
Amplifying your damage every now and then is nice if you feel your aggro is solid enough but not necessary. (If you look at the little bars below everyone's class icon on the party frame, that's the aggro for everyone on the target selected; Garuda in this case).

If it helps, I recorded this a while back, nothing special, just an average group with a PUG. (Stop the video around 6:45; spoilers).

    Good luck and have fun

I never throw in my Maim combos until I have at least 3 or 4 rotation's worth of aggro lead, maybe I'm just overly cautious, but a solid lead is always a nice cushion to set before you go for alternate combos.

Today I get her down!! Finally, after a few more tries, we could do so although our healer died and had to kill her the MNK and me.

IF your Healer is SCH? and do u have SMN in ur PT?
the pet seem to draw aggro very easy if not control well by user.
I had SCH pulling aggro off me a few time in garuda while i repositionher.
