Capitalism at it's finest. I wonder what it would be like if we got to walk into Walmart and they didn't have any prices listed and we had to guess by offering them money...

    Lol so many greedy sellers.....

Sry you can't completely price gouge and hold people looking for gear hostage with your insane prices.

Boo hoo other people are offering the same items for a cheaper price.....plz santa enix let me sell my worthless goods for 100k each and force ppl to buy them.

Everyone can level all jobs to 50 on a single character. How long did you expect to profit from doing it yourself?

You should be asking SE to add rare recipes, or something that's going to equal/surpass Crystal Tower i80 gear, which everyone will have access to, which is an actual problem for crafting IMO.

I like those guys. I buy them out and relist. MMO Markets 101. I'm surprised so many people in this thread apparently never thought of it. But that's ok, more no brainer gil for me ♥

The only thing that will separate the best from the rest are end game NMs that drop rare mats for end game crafts. Keep in mind it's early and many things will be added.

The "problem" is limited auction slots.

I'm 50 in two crafts now, and I fill up all 40 retainer slots at least twice per day. If I don't have a gil-producing retainer slot, then that slot is effectively LOSING me 3k (or more) gil, twice per day. I'm not going to keep that slot filled just so that I can make sure the price stays high. If the price drops too low, I simply craft something else. There's ALWAYS something else.

Bottom line: if you want to make considerable gil with your crafting, you need to understand the laws of supply and demand rather than trying to fight against them.

Edit: using some numbers listed above, if I put up an item for 12k, and it doesn't sell for even 48 hours, I've lost at minimum 3k for that auction slot (more likely a whole lot more). Because we're limited with slots, and I am crafting from my wife's gathering, I have to maintain a high volume of sales. I'm a crafter who IS maximizing profits; I just realize that the actual means of production in this game are retainer slots, not the items that are placed in them.

Lord, I love people like you. Folks like you allow me to sell 3-4 of those items in the time it takes you to sell a single one. End profit for me is FAR higher than yours (because I have no costs due to gathering alt), from the same number of retainer slots.

If you buy out something and relist then I would make tons more and put it up for the same price I was selling at before. I had people do this before, and they never learn.

I think "sellers" need to get used to the idea that prices aren't static. Most things in this game are under heavy supply, and demand for what you can craft is relatively small. The end result is a lot of supply on the markets and a lot of undercutting to attract what little buyers there are.

Ive said since the game released that it is a buyer's market. Things are cheap, and will get cheaper as a matter of fact.
Undercutting occurs because people want their item to be the cheapest so it sells the fastest. Say someone is selling for 18k then someone thinks 10k will sell quickly and sets their price to that. Then a bunch of other people see the 10k price, and price there or even lower.

Agree with OP. Make the AH like ffxi was, show the last 20 items that sold and at what price they sold so the market can be established. I watch the same weekend warrior list his HQ spinel rings for 2800g when they sell consistently at 5000g during the week. Why do they need to undercut by 1200 gil? Your items will sell before mine if you list them for 50 gil less than me, 1200 gil less is just ridiculous. I feel all the people arguing you sell for too much blah blah blah are the same people who don't have a lvl 50 craft.

Case and point is the post above mine.
