No, that's not how the market works. Assuming demand remains static, as price continue to be pushed lower by oversupply, more and and more producers will stop production due to the lower profit, thus starting to decrease the supply, until the market reaches a equilibrium.

The real problem here is that the way SE has set things up atm has resulted in an economy with limited demand - there is almost no demand for non-endgame gear due to the game throwing enough free stuff at people to cover all of Eorzea twice. And the endgame gear are either not good enough (militia), or too expensive (ilvl70+materia) for the majority of the player base. Add in a double whammy via the relative uselessness of materias due to there being no slot on dungeon gears, what you end up with is an economy that consumes very little.

It would be amazing if there ISN'T major undercutting with the way the system is setup.
