People prefer to PUG rather than join an FC?

I befriend people who happen to be on the same server when I pug. Those people, having pugged with me once, are more likely to available during my playtime. I know joining a FC will have certain play obligations (else I'm a leeching member) and with my aggressive work schedule atm I feel I cannot meet them.

I prefer pugs cause guilds/fc tend to make up stupid rules and usually get way to serious. It just doesn't feel like a game or very fun for me at that point.

But i was in a large FC and it was just as bad so meh..

I don't understand OP's frustration at all.

Taking on board what you have said, you must play with members of your FC exclusively. If that's the case, then how on earth does it affect you how others play? Is this just bigotry?

Most people aren't in 'uberguilds'; they are in small "friends and family" FCs. My FC has 8 people, and maybe 2-3 of them are online at any time when I am... however, they are all good people. I'm not going to ditch my FC just to 'progress' or whatever. That's what linkshells are for (when they exist, that is; I have yet to see even the hint of an endgame linkshell on Faerie)

Also, just because someone is from your FC doesn't mean they are your slave. If they are currently levelling an alt / crafting / etc, forcing them to join your Chimera group (which has 3 people currently, and may not ever get filled) isn't going to work.

Some people want to pug because they don't want to commit to a static group at X time every day. They have lives and they don't happen on schedules. Also they want to be able to go "Oh my fav shows on, and bail, or w/e" With DF if you bail, it replaces you, it's inconvenient to the group but it's not the end of the world. It has extreme perks. You get to run content, and you aren't tied down to anyone. And with vote to kick coming I'm sure trolls will be a lot more manageable.
