    Chocobo Breeding

I've always loved MMO's that have a breeding mini-game that FFXI; and soon, FFXIV have. However I'm a little confused as to what the identification of males and females have when it comes to breeding. I know there is Sire and Dam. But that usually is placed on the paperwork when the newborn comes in.

In Horse breeding; the males term is a Stallion while the female is called the Mare.
Deer are Males = Bucks; Females = Does.
Cows; Male = Bull, Female = Heifer (If she has yet to breed) or just Cow (If she has bred)

So I'm curious as to what the technical terms the breeders refer Breeding Males and Females as.

Well, despite being mounts, chocobos are birds after all, so avian terminology would apply I would think.

There are times during the main storyline when chocobo breeding is mentioned (especially during the Gridanian starting storyline), but I can't remember exactly what terminology was used to refer to male and females of the species, if any.

In past FF games, there wasn't any real specific terms used to differentiate gender - in FFVII for instance they were just called 'male chocobo' and 'female chocobo'. Young are naturally called chicks though (or 'chicobos' as they were mentioned in FFVIII ).
