meh. with every new MMO (ok ok it's debatable if you consider ARR a new game or not) we have the same
- the crowd complaing it's too hard
- the crowd complaining it's too easy
- the crowd complaining you can't do everything solo
- the crowd complaining you do everything solo and nobody is 'socialising'
- the crowd complaining there is nothing to do
- the crowd complaining they don't have the time to do everything (or reach endgame in time)
- the crowd complaining leveling is too fast
- the crowd complaining leveling is too 'restricted' (may be linked to 'forced to group')
- the crowd complaining game is too much like wow
- the crowd complaining game is not enough like wow
...

soon we'll have
- the crowd complaining they wasted resources on end-game (less challenging thancurrent endgame)
- the crowd complaining they wasted resources on pvp
- the crowd complaining they wasted resources on housing
- the crowd complaining they wasted resources on marriage system
...

What's funny to me is that when WoW was released people said the same thing about it. There were several older MMOs that had been out for years that many proclaimed made WoW look terribad. The amount of trash talk when WoW was released is hilarious in hindsight (especially those that predicted it's closure in a year or so).

I can't really blame those for predicting it's closure though as the release of WoW was incredibly bad with bugs and server crashes galore..


Having said that I've been playing MMOs since the BBS days. Sometime around the late 1990s is when I started seeing these strains of complaints appear with new games. IT also coincides with the time when the internet exploded in popularity.

Nowadays you can't release a single online game without at least some people making this same tired list of complaints.
