Well, if they're talkin' about somehow having crafting jobs like blacksmith and what not participate in battles eventually, I figure they may as well go nuts with it!

Err, when did they say that?
Crafting jobs being able to participate in battle was an early concept that was supposed to be in the game from the beginning, but they scrapped that at the last second - so last second, in fact, that references to combat crafting can still be seen on the official website.
I don't think they're bringing that back.
Yeah, I know ^^ This was just a post to use my signature for a laugh lol But you're right. No one has officially said that but their are some die hard crafting fans out there that would like that.
Ah, yeah suppose they would getting annoying pretty quick with multiple posts >.<
they already have this....
You craft ammo and stuff for an NPC while it fights and if it runs out they cant attack
So they could easily just make instances where you need "energy" to make your weapons do dmg or spells do dmg and then require crafters to craft the energy or w/e.
But its already built into the game (try out the 2nd or 3rd wood working guild quest)
Mew!
lol I think you're missing the whole point of this thread. I was just making a little funny on this topic by using my signature with it's outlandish attack concept it's using. Not to mention a class that doesn't even exist. Anyway, sorry for wasting your time with silliness.
Look at the guy wielding the needle...what does it seem like he's going to do?
Lol, nice sig, Yusuke. I like. -saves-
