Hi, as a new level 50 in gathering classes, what would be the optimal way for me to meld materias in my gear?
Which stat should I be prioritizing?

Stat caps listed here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ciples-of-Land
Note: The following does not apply to fisher. Fishers just push their perception as much as possible, mainly. Since none of their %s are displayed to them, nobody really has any concrete numbers.
Gathering you'll want to get to 340ish. That will cap your gathering rate at 90% (it won't go higher) on Unspoiled Nodes.
Perception you'll want to get to 320+. Personally, I don't think pushing it past 320 is worth the trouble since it takes a loooot of perception to boost HQ rate on Unspoiled Nodes, but that's your call. 320 is the minimum perception requirement in order to get HQ materials out of Unspoiled Nodes.
GP you'll want to get to 580~600. 600 is the best, but 580+ will suffice if you can't reach that. If you have 600+ GP, on Unspoiled Nodes, you can start an Unspoiled Node with Toil Of X and the HQ+30% ability. If you only have 580+ GP, on Unspoiled Nodes, you can start with the HQ+30% ability, and then pop your +1 gathering attempt ability as soon as your reach 300GP (you can do this because every successful gather gives you +5GP). And of course, on the last gathering attempt at an Unspoiled Node, you should use Deep Vigor/Brunt Force.
Edit: Some people prefer to do Toil-Of and then the +1 gathering attempt ability. So that's another option, but it requires the same amount of GP.
Note: If you don't care about HQ materials, you should just use your yield+2 ability, in which case your GP only needs to be at 500+.

Is that true for the perception and gathering on fisher as well? Also how does gathering help fishers?
