Legit Players Banned/Punished due to RMT *FOR DUMMIES: A GUIDE*

I've seen many uninformed individuals attack people verbally, and accuse them of lying or buying gil. This is not the case, and I thought I would explain to the average person what the actual problem is here.

Player A: A person who bought gil
Player B: A person who didn't buy gil

Player A buys gil
Player B sells 99 logs for 4.5k on the market boards
Player A buys 99 log for 4.5k on the market boards from Player B's retainer
Player B makes a profit and receives gil from a player whose gil was obtained from cheating
Player B is banned for 5-10 days of a paid amount of time, and when returned to the game, has went from 1 million gil to 100k

I am not a player who has been banned, but I think this is ridiculous and the worst way I've seen an MMO handle RMT. There are better ways.

...this isn't an opinion on the situation, this is what is currently happening to people.

If you are making gil from a person who has gil that has been obtained from a source that is RMT, SE can take it from you.

It's like getting a fake 20 dollar bill from a gas station.

I honestly don't know who to believe anymore lol.

I know a number of people that were banned on Cactaur -- Was guilded with most of them for a decade in EQ.

First max miner on server - bla bla bla.

I believe 5 of them were "suspended/banned" and I agree.

Worst customer service, ever. Worst response to a situation, ever.

The best part is, there's currently no venue through which to actually have it investigated...Instead you get the standard canned response.

...Phone support is a joke and the GM's aren't qualified to handle the situation when you actually contact one.

SE is beating out ArenaNet/NCSoft in the worst CS ever...Hopefully they change but, they can't even get a buffer rack going so, I don't have hope for them, anymore.

Yes, I'm not a huge alarmist, and I love SE, but this entire situation is really making me consider saying nevermind to this entire game. If I can't make gil, and I'm bored of grinding tomes, what is there for to me actually enjoy in the game? Very weird.

I have yet to see any proof anyone is innocent or guilty; and it's probably impossible to show this unless SE makes their findings public.

I cannot take any sides because I don't have the evidence.

I don't want innocent players to be wrongfully punished, yet I don't want to help cheaters get their stuff back.

I'm still waiting for proof myself - As a level 50 weaver and especially a level 50 cook with all the gil I've made with these two crafts alone I'm pretty sure statistically I would have sold to RMT (seller or buyer) at some point and was never touched. I don't disbelieve it, I just highly doubt that is the only thing thing SE looks for. That was never the case in XI and the only time people ever got caught that was innocent was because the trap SE set had no bounds. (Gardening.)

Other side of the coin is, I don't believe half of the ppl telling their story as this is the internet. Cheaters love to play the cry innocence game and unfortunately SE doesn't share their investigations to the public and never will.
