Learning you are at the mercy of those teaching you. After you know it though take charge and tell them to keep up with you or they will die. When I tank something I know, we do it my way. I'm the tank, I know the dungeon, I know my limits, and I can generally judge early on what the party limits are.

well on the 3rd group I told the healer feel free to leave and don't let the door hit you on the way out . I guess they came here and posted how tanks are mental blah blah
