    I'll only be a d-bag if someone is a d-bag to me.

    *enters dungeon via Duty Finder*

Me: "Hey all, new to this dungeon."

*After first pull is dead, random Bard runs ahead to next pack*

    Random Bard: "Come. Faster"

    Me: "Erm, okay"

    *Couple minutes later*

Healer: "Go faster, I got this."

    Me: "Sure then."

*I run ahead, pull next group, dead, Bard runs ahead of me and accidentally aggros next group*

*Bard decides to WTF AOE and Bloodletter everything in sight, runs around the room like a moron and I can't generate emnity, he dies*

Bard: "wtf tank, go faster next time noob"

Me: "Okay, hopefully your next time is more of a tool than I'm willing to be."

    *I leave group*

/shrug. I don't mind a 15 minute wait for my next Duty Finder allowance. Those other d-bags will likely wait 40+ minutes if they bother to at all. I'll be an asshole when it's necessary, there's absolutely no reason I should have to carry unnecessary burdens set upon me by idiot DPS and healers. My job is to tank, not put up with their shit.

Tank also has to see to be on his/her toes to see what other people do so if some dps pulls extra packs you're ready to grab them. There are also other things.

That's a tank player. Then people wonder why we have god complex and irritating personalities. Hah!
I'm glad someone got the joke.

I've gotten the compliments as well, and to all those out there who gave them, it is appreciated. Sometimes a simple "thank you" is enough to know you helped folks out. What I cannot abide and will never tolerate is some of the downright hatefulness from folks who hide behind anonymity.

Well not me, i do not even speak in dungeons too often and actually do not think myself as a leader.
I do however always make sure i watch the health bar of allies and never let them take too much damage especially the healer.
Also my first ever MMO and tanking role so i would much rather have critisism/ advise then ditch out harsh remarks at other players

I don't normally get compliments. If anything, if something goes wrong you hear it.

It's basically the same as comment cards at a restaurant or store. Good experiences get drowned out and the bad ones reverberate.

recently i have often get DD pretty rude or maybe dumb... i don't know.

i means, i have work my ass to get my tank to 50, get to know every monster weakness or pattern of the dungeon. and often they come and decide what i must tank or not...
hello, i know the dungeon, the limit of my tanking, let's me pull and decide the order.

i will not talk of the DD in relics +1 that shoot all they have in less of 5 second at the start of the fight...

i can understand people thinking that tank are rude and jerk, but sometimes i wonder if they think about our viewpoint?

we don't ask to focus the same target for nothing!
we don't mark this target for nothing!
we don't do this in this order for nothing!

they need to understand that we are not simply checking if our rotation of skill is good, we have to check the hate meter for each monster (can be kinda tricky), we have to keep an eyes behind our head for make sure no one aggros. we must keep in mind the dangerous skill than a monster can have, we need to be ready to avoid this AoE that will make the healer in pain! we must get ready to interrupt whatever we have to interrupt!

Gosh we have a more complicate work than DD, let's us do our jobs!

I know it dumb menttality but that's how i feel when I am tanking that I need to protect the people who are with me.
As i like to put it a paladins weapon isn't his sword, it's his shield.

I started playing tank because I met so many poor tanks who don't listen or have level appropriate gear. So far up to quan, i'm breezing through everything and giving my party very smooth runs. I am respectful and I usually give a very quick briefing before a fight if required, even if the party seems like an experienced group. If people have suggestions, I am open to take any (always interested to know a more efficient way to do something). Then and again, i'm kind of a veteran when it comes to mmos and don't really have a short temper. I can laugh most things off, it's when people start pushing blame on someone when it was obviously not needed or that persons fault to begin with that I get a bit hmm...

So since I made this thread I've been super busy and haven't been able to take part in the conversation so let me start now.

I mainly made this as a rant for the most part.

Anyway I saw a few people ask what my definition of a dbag was so let me tell you all. I was running brayflox with a warrior, me a white Mage, a summoner, and a black Mage. So in this duty I use sleep a lot that way everyone's job is easier. So he says to me verbatim, "quit fucking sleeping, I'm a tank I need to get there aggro, learn your role". Does anyone see the problem with this statement? Well I tried to tell him that if I sleep something that is already aggro ex on to you and I sleep it you don't lose the aggro. He then proceeded to cuz me out some more until the summoner and my black Mage friend said something and he cried some more and left. Was I in the wrong here?

no, your not in the wrong. however, it is not necessary to sleep when a war/mrd is the tank as they specialize in AOE tanking. he likely was unaware of why you should not be sleeping (sleep doesn't build enmity that much) and just parroting someone else, but its inefficient to sleep things with a war/mrd as they will just end up immediately waking them up.
