    Standard xenophobic response.

I fully understand the hypocrisy of what I'm about to say but Japanese players have been extremely unfriendly towards English speakers in my experience. In FFXI I can't count on both hands the number of times I was looking for a party and saw <Looking for members><Japanese><German><French><Okay><English><No Thanks>. Yet not once did I see the reverse. Perhaps it was simply because the game was released years earlier in Japan but somehow I doubt this is the sole contributing factor.

Of the 5-10 times I did manage to somehow find myself in an all <Japanese> party in FFXI 70-95% of the time I could have sworn I was being laughed at. Lengthy discussions without using any auto translate would be followed by <insert my name here> and lots of W's. Is that not equivalent to saying, lmao what a fuking noob!? Look at this horrible English player, lmfao 笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑笑?

Give me a break. Assholes belong to every language and dialect. Don't insult the entire English speaking population by insinuating that we are somehow inferior to Japanese speakers. Way to alienate over a billion people with one comment.

It's silly to point a finger and say that only a certain class have d-bags, you only notice more on tanks because you don't tank and isn't an a-hole yourself.
Or really what you really mean is that the nice tanks have friends to play with :P

I never see the reason to be rude to anyone. I know how what to pull and how, the limits the group and I can handle, kill order etc. My problem stems from DPS who think I'm not pulling enough (WoW mentality) or going through the dungeon fast enough. Granted, I DO NOT run through mob pack after mob pack, but once the mobs die I move on cautiously. It's part of being the Tank. Lucky I have only experienced one off player during my FF XIV play time. On any pull with 3 mobs, he would run off around a corner or where others mobs are and pull them back to me. We didn't think much of it the first few times, but after like the 8th pull we decided to fix the issue. He just kept this up until my wife stopped healing and I refused to pull hate from him. The unnecessary stress this puts on the party as a whole is pointless. We never wiped, but I place that on the fact that my wife and I were able to prepare. After 4 deaths he decided to leave the group. He got replaced and we had a fantastic run.

The hell with that I said, so I started leveling Gladiator, to end up where I am today, a tank. I don't hate tanking, but I didn't do it out of joy, I did it out of need. If I have to suffer to que fast, then my tolerance for BS is small cause tanking ain't nearly as fun as healing. I tried going back to healing, but when I'd go DF as a WM, I'd get paired up with short bus Tanks who couldn't hold aggro to save their lives. Out of all the classes, the Tank can't, and I mean absolutely CAN NOT be an idiot. For this reason I Tank as my main class now, it's no fun when your tanks an idiot. Someone's gotta do it though right? I'm grumpy, but I am very good at my job.
Only trouble I've had so far is in AK when the other players are higher geared than me. I can't stand losing hate, feels like I'm not doing my job as Paladin if I can't at least do that.

My favorite Dungeon so far is AV, the second boss (ol one eye) is fun to fight. Puts a smile on my face when a Dragoon doesn't pay attention and get's OHKoed by one eyes swing. Hahahha, suckerrrrrr.

For the record though, I haven't run into any texts like the one you posted so far. The Japanese on my server (Ultima at this point in time) don't seem to mind playing with Western players. Only been playing FFXIV since August, so I can't speak 100% on the topic though, just giving my experience so far.

I doubt I'll say anything that has not already been said. Players of all types can be unsociable. It gets noticed more with tanks because they are the focal point of the party. Good tanks and good heals often cover for bad DPS, but DPS generally can't cover if the tank or heals fail. Few notice and fewer care when DPS are unsociable, they're part of the background. So when a tank or healer gets or gives grief, people notice.

Extra pack gets pulled into the party? Eh, just another tab targeting ranged dumb@ss who doesn't look before he hits the next ability.
Similar thoughts for most of the points made in earlier posts.

I don't really care if we get rage for our attitudes from bad DPS and entitled healers. (I like to heal as a break because it is the hands down laziest job in MMOs.)

I don't rage on other players in the lazy roles who pull dumb crap, sometimes mistakes happen. But the actively malicious "gogogo" DPS who make life hard for the new kids and the heals who like to pull extortion tactics on the other members... these I have no time for. Takes me fifteen minutes to wait for the DF cooldown, I can grab a coffee and run a couple FATEs, it takes them longer to wait for another tank.

I have not tanked much in this game, I'm taking the time to level slowly and enjoy all the content, but I've tanked extensively in other MMOs. I love the role, I love being the in your face leader up the front taking the boss on while my sidekicks have to creep around its ass or snipe it from afar. I love levelling with something that doesn't get torn apart by random mobs out in the wilderness.

I'm starting to think other players constantly whine about tanks because they're bored spamming only 2-3 buttons and in need of attention due to choosing to be the support staff.

Now I'm just musing, so I'll leave on that thought, it makes me smile.

Really? I get the most passive tanks. Whenever I join the hard modes of the primals, they are very indifferent of becoming the main tank or the other tank. "You choose, Creed."

Considering the fact that my only LV50 job is WAR, I guess I don't have too much experience with other tanks, except for 8-man runs where there may be a second tank. Most players do not give me a hard time when something bad happens since I will always be forthcoming and admit to making a mistake. Some people screw up and immediately blame someone else, and this is the hallmark of douchebaggery. I can assure you that it happens with DPS and healers quite a bit; this is not exclusive to tanks.

A good example is Titan hard mode. So many people are willing to jump to conclusions and judge someone by their gear. Seriously, the fight is not THAT hard... you just need people that can dodge attacks. When I watch Titan failure videos, or PUG Titan to help someone with progression, I almost always notice that the person yelling "go get better gear, you are wiping us" is the person that got hit by a bomb, blown off the ledge, etc.

Yup. As a WAR, I love teaming up with good PLDs. I have no preference, main or off tank. If I off-tank, I constantly debuff the mob with Storm's eye so that both tanks get the slashing damage boost and thus the party moves faster and the PLD has an easier time with enmity. When I main-tank, many PLDs will throw stoneskin on me from time to time, especially on Ifrit and Garuda when there is downtime due to teleports, etc.

Things change tremendously once you reach endgame. Healing isn't lazy and if you think it is, your party will wipe. Also if DPS are spamming 2-3 casts, their DPS will be horrible and will wipe. Just some thoughts
