Damn, captain grammar strikes again.
Damn, captain grammar strikes again.
It isn't the role, it's the people. Either the tank is a douchebag naturally, or whatever people are in the group are doing something to cause it. 95% of the people I get into groups with in the DF are great people. The rest are incompetent, impatient, or just ignorant. You can't control it anymore than the rest of us can. If they're impatient and pull, let em tank. If they can't control aggro, let em tank. If they are just ignorant, educate them. If they don't learn, let em tank. It's really simple.

Amazing this thread is still alive, lol. Maybe I can summarize the general sentiment via TL,DR:
A) We, as tanks, will usually take the lead because we are amazing and cool and good at sports and the guitar. But it sucks when we are expected to know things that other players don't ever "need" to know, when those particular aspects should be a shared experience.
B) There is an accusation about tanks being flighty, hard to deal with, or ornery. You will run into horrible players of every class, and you probably direct your hate of horrible players at the tanks because their mistakes are the most visible and impactful.
C) Knibb High Football rules!!!

TANKING IS MY PATH TO AUTOCRATIC DESPOTISM
Feeling nostalgic? So are we.

I personally don't understand tanks who rage for any reason. Do i get frustrated, sure. Do I encounter terrible groups that I eventually leave, sure. Do I freak out at said group prior to leaving, never.
A typical Amdapor Keep run with Zoomie:
Experienced group? Awesome, I have macros that explain my "challenge" mode on all bosses. We're about to have a great time.
Inexperienced group? Also awesome, welcome to AK. I ALSO have macros that explain each fight. Please listen up and I will show you how AK is supposed to go.
I mark everything ALL THE TIME, its my job, why wouldn't I? I chain pull all the time unless someone needs MP, expediency is golden.
My job as the tank is so facilitate the cleanest, fastest, funnest run possible. Meanwhile I tell random, funny, outlandish stories while tanking bosses if I have time, lol.
Long story short: I love tanking, you will love me being your tank, we're gonna have a good time.

oww thats harsh lol hate to be you man j/k
If the WHM is having threat issues on Titan its likely the fault of the tank. A: Under geared and incapable of required threat gen. B: A baddie tank who regardless of gear probably won't succeed.

honestly, I think I'm more of a dick when I'm healing or DPS'ing.
from healing it's getting to be in the back row, and seeing where people go wrong. and when I'm DPS'ing, I'm usually a back row fighter as well, or at least I play very well(force of habit. It was impressed upon me when I was little that there is no shame in losing, only shame is in not even trying in the first place. so I study and practice my class and role, even making points to use the more obscure moves for utility)
When I tank, I'm in something's face, trying to make sure that nothing goes wrong, because if I screw up, total party wipe happens. No time for focussing on that monk who's not using their positionals, or the dragoon who isn't jumping on cooldown/using it as a part of their combos[I like to throw mine in right after my full thrust for some added burst]) if it dies, and nobody else dies, I did my job, and that's enough.
Unless they do something that irks me. Like fiddling with my marks. or waking sleepy, or ignoring the marks. then I give one chance, explain what went wrong, and if they refuse to improve, then I simply say "Done." and walk out the front door.
