I'm kinda hot and cold. One run a mistake may not bother me, but on another run that very same mistake may twist my insides to the point where I type something unnecessary into party chat. When I'm angry I can say some incredibly scathing things that just pick people apart, but if I realize I went too far I'm not above apologizing in the middle of group chat to the victim.

Some of us become douchebags over the course of time after having our psyche worn down like waves hitting a beach from prima donnas that we just can't take any more crap from them. So sometimes our first instinct is for the lizard brain to take over and just kick some e-ass. I'm not particularly proud of it, but it is what it is.

I do appreciate the compliments I have received after a lot of runs though. Things that range anywhere from "Wow, so much better than our other shitty tank", "Best tank ever" after solo'ing the last 30% of the chimera in Cutter's Cry on my PLD alt to "You should write a guide on how to Warrior tank" after an AK run even though I outgear the crap out of the place makes me feel much more grateful than any "Thank You" I type into group chat can possibly communicate and make the woes of tanking worth it. 100%.

I can put up with a lot, I just don't enjoy being rushed I move at a pretty strong pace, but if you pull as a DPS, that's the best way to get on my nerves.

I am guessing.. but Tanks take ALOT of abuse in this game. Tanking/Healing both are a step up as far as visiblity in party fails.. If somethings goes awry .. its always.. that healer sucked, or that tank sucked.. after hearing abuse alot.. you can dish it back or just choose not to take it.. as a new tank.. i used to always be dps.. i am still learning.. a duty or run.. i may not get right on the very first run.. but later will ace it.. I realize some guys run these runs/duties non stop and have like 30+ runs.. to my 1sit or 2nd.. but its always.. that tank sucked or something like that.. So I think the bad attitude is just a reflection of the abuse or bad mojo that was directed at them earlier.. I have to take the abuse until i learn the run.. but sometimes.. ya f those guys

I never really rage against others, but I have played with a few d-bags throughout my tanking career. I can usually just shrug my shoulders and move on if people start to flame me for making a mistake (if I did it, I'll happily admit it and attempt to correct it next time). However, the only people that seem to get instantly right under my skin are the people who tell you step by step the ONLY way to beat this one specific fight and then do not even attempt to follow their own plan and die because of it.......over and over again.

Watching a video on youtube may "enlighten" you, but it definitly doesn't make you an expert in these situations. I take my tanking seriously and honestly I'm a very nice guy, but when you tell me the ONLY way to do something like you are a pro who could do it in their sleep and then you die early on because you didnt take your own advice? Come on man, just admit you've no clue what youre doing. It's then that the rage stops to boil over for me.

Honestly the only thing I ever say in party chat is "nailed it" when people die to aoes or get repelled off the wall.

my i love being a tank, and i love the players that ive met, very few times have i run into these power trippers (albeit since 2.0 ive ONLY run tank) but i've also been hugely humble and explained instantly that as a tank during a boss battle, i cant see most of whats going on, i see a GIGANTIC body in my face, and have to focus on keeping that on me, cuz if it leaves, everyone else dies.. so as a bunch of people said the power is intoxicating

but if we can learn to appreciate the other members, we all learn that its an equal part, im just as important as the DPS and the DD and the buffer and the healer. if not, there wouldn't be any reason to have them.

    I love being a tank~

As many others have said, tanks are the integral part of the group. Every ounce of weight rests on their shoulders. If you forget to pop 1 cooldown and die because of it, everyone knows. If you lose aggro to a DPS that doesn't care about threat meters, its not his fault, it's the crappy tanks fault. If you don't pull monsters in the most perfect form every time, people bicker and moan. If you aren't on top of your game 100% of the time, people take notice, and they complain.

Tanks are by far the most stressful jobs out there and are sorely unappreciated. After months of gritting your teeth through everything, you tend to become short tempered. Some people don't, most people do.

I personally feel that if people expect me to play at 100% all of the time, then it is just as fair for me to expect it of them. If I'm playing with friends and I know I'm in a relaxed environment, entirely different story. But I swear to God if one of you pubs pulls aggro...

This is why I tend to group up only with friends. If things go wrong, we laugh it off and try again.

But... there are times when you are in the DF/PUGs and there is 1 or 2 others in the group that do stupid things (especially when it's intentionally done) and that starts to eat away at your soul until you want to rage at them. The good thing is, you can just shout at the screen and get back to trying to control the situation. Or leave, take a few minutes and just move on with things. It's a game in the end, and isn't worth stressing over. Why some people feel the need to type their rage out at people, I have no idea. It rarely helps anyone.

This is one of the things I enjoyed most about Age of Conan.

If someone was being an unreasonable douchenozzle, I would drop party in the middle of a dungeon and PK them then and there.

PvE games let players get away with too much. There's almost zero accountability.

Personally, I can see why some tanks get upset. It is quite annoying to have a parrot on your shoulder trying to dictate your every move. Giving out tips is fine but if you're going to try to tell me how to play throughout the entire run, I'm not going to be happy.

Basically, if you think you know how a tank should be played, be a tank. Otherwise, leave the tank to do his job or leave the party and find another with a tank who plays in a way that makes you happy.

i play with a friend, she was the whm and recently she did begin to level up the gld for test. she have understand why i was pesting against dps and now understand.

maybe we must force every dps to try tank for they understand a bit what it is when people don't look them aggro meter.
