So since I made this thread I've been super busy and haven't been able to take part in the conversation so let me start now.

I mainly made this as a rant for the most part.

Anyway I saw a few people ask what my definition of a dbag was so let me tell you all. I was running brayflox with a warrior, me a white Mage, a summoner, and a black Mage. So in this duty I use sleep a lot that way everyone's job is easier. So he says to me verbatim, "quit fucking sleeping, I'm a tank I need to get there aggro, learn your role". Does anyone see the problem with this statement? Well I tried to tell him that if I sleep something that is already aggro ex on to you and I sleep it you don't lose the aggro. He then proceeded to cuz me out some more until the summoner and my black Mage friend said something and he cried some more and left. Was I in the wrong here?

no, your not in the wrong. however, it is not necessary to sleep when a war/mrd is the tank as they specialize in AOE tanking. he likely was unaware of why you should not be sleeping (sleep doesn't build enmity that much) and just parroting someone else, but its inefficient to sleep things with a war/mrd as they will just end up immediately waking them up.

Well I tried to explain to him that if he pulls the group and then I sleep one of them that it's not necessary to try and regain aggro on the slept monster. But he kept raging that me sleeping them reset the aggro and that I was taking hate of those monsters. The main reason I was sleeping was the summoner was not very good and things were taking very long to die and I wanted to make my life easier as the healer. I'm a very competent healer and use medica very rarely as to not steal hate. So it pissed me off that he said I need to learn my role. I don't tell people how to play and talk down to them at the same time. So I don't expect others to do that to me. I wasn't even mad at the fact he kept attacking the sleepers, he could have said hey no need to sleep I can handle it or something like that but he went straight to cussing and insults.

Next example that comes to mind was in halatali. I know it's a low level dungeon and I'm a noob lol. Anyway, it's me as a lancer, a white mage, black Mage and a paladin. So I'm sure that most people remember the chains you have to pull and then there are those snake things that are kinda strong. Well the tank pulled his three adds and then immediately the black Mage pulls the chain and spawns in three lightning sprites. Well I'm the only one attacking the snake as it pounds the tank and the healer wasnt really keeping up with the tank cuz they had to grab the blackmage after the sprites hit them. So to speed it up and take the pressure off the healer I used a lvl 1 limit to kill the creeper. Then everything got back on track.

Then after the first boss in the water, I always say before hand in case someone doesn't know that you can't stay in the water. So after I say that the tank says "no duh asshole" then the whm says that he didn't know that and to back off. Then the tank stayed in the water for most of the fight lol. After the fight was over he used the limit and when I asked "why did you waste that" he said " you wasted one" then I said I didn't I was trying to take pressure of the healer. Then he starts to cus and freak out on me saying I need to "learn how to play"which I thought people said that as an example but he actually said it lol. So as I'm typing he starts another fight and then he dies somehow with in like 12 seconds and then he blames that on me. So I tried to say I was typing and that I'm not a healer so I couldn't have kept you alive anyway. He lays into me and I just fight the final boss call him an asshole and leave.

just going to respond because i'm already here.
a fun fact about mobs that use spells: if you are not in their view and the spell is not an AOE, it will fail. meaning that if you rotate an enemy spellcaster at a certain speed, you will never take damage. this can be done with sprites, mages, bosses (like void cthulhu), spirits, succubi, and floating eyes.

might make a melee Dps mad, but you make healers job boring in the process

I'm not sure what this has to do with the scenario I gave.

Also the other post I made was for you as well.

it was relevant to the first paragraph of the second scenario, just a little thing i found.

i did see the other post though, the tank was an ass. there is nothing more to say.

he needs to learn how healing works before trying to telling someone to "learn their role."

as a tank i like to keep my party alive, if i am having trouble keeping hate on enemies i would rather have a healer or BLM sleep them to reduce the burden (this is as a paladin of course, i'm pretty sure warriors have a better time AOE tanking). i feel that if someone pulls a mob away from me and said mob's HP is above half, i have failed and will rush to try to get it's attention.

ive had mean people run with me, i have had nice people. during my first run at longstop i had a dps that was hostile to me to an extent, but he helped me better learn my role. i have had healers that are obsessed with AOE heals and make my job tough, i have had dps that acted independently. even then i do my best to keep hate, as i have found it that the dungeon progresses quicker if i make sure that i am the center of every single mob's attention and DPS/healer isn't dying because they pulled something off of me.

In my experience a lot of players just enjoying blaming tanks for any short comings the group has.
When I find good DPS and or healers I just add them to friends & try to only run with my FC

I don't have a FC. Me and my friends were going to start one but two of them quit already and there's only 2 of us left so we can't make one. And I haven't been invited to one yet so the FC thing isn't an option.

I see, well I hope things turn around for you and you meet some nicer people in your pug groups.
Otherwise just try to make some premade groups where you can speak with the players before running dungeons with them
