    Leveling multiple jobs

Ok have decided I will be leveling 5 jobs concurrently and was wondering if anyone has any advice (or attempted this before) I will out line below how I intend on doing it I will also be writing a blog of my progression and making notes of pitfalls I come across.

I plan on taking Paladin, White mage, Summoner, Scholar and Black mage to 50 hopefully all at the same time or with a little level discrepancy .

I will be doing the main story and class quests with Black mage*, Paladin, White mage and Scholar (Summoner**) will be mainly dungeons but will be doing side quests and fates on these as there level drops behind and ofc class quests.

If my Black mage should fall behind I will be doing the odd fate.

I will also be doing bits of all logs on all classes as I come by them will not go out of my way to find all these hunting logs but if there will not run past will be killing .

*will not be doing the dungeon parts of main story with Black mage due to queue times I will be using either one of my healers or tank which ever could do with the xp more.

** will not actually be leveling the summoner but as I level scholar it will auto level summoner too so why not do both ^^.

How does it sound guys will it work and flame away :P :P :P.

    Althire.

When many adults share an imaginary friend, we call it religion and get yelled at when we point out the similarities between points two and three."

Leveling them together is fine. I leveled MNK and WAR at the same time till level 44. The problem is gearing them up. It's not just about money but endgame gears requires quite a few runs to get full sets for 1 job. You'd need 3 sets for those 5 jobs since WHM and SCH share and SMN and BLM share. Still, the amount of tomes you need is humongous. Pick what you want to play most and stick to it, level others later would be my advise.

Generally, taking jobs up at the same time is about as much effort as taking them each up to 50 one by one, with one exception: If jobs can share gear on the way up. Until you hit endgame, all of your Disciplines of Magic will share the same gear, both tanks will use the same gear, and both MNK and BRD share gear (DRG can share the MNK/BRD gear for the most part, though there's heavy gear out there which is PLD/WAR/DRG only, though the tanks typically get better making it effectively DRG armor).

I am keeping a weaver and a goldsmith in line with them (currently BLM at lvl 31, a CNJ at lvl 29 and a ARC at lvl 20 with Weaver at level 30. And now a miner because "if only i started it earlier…"). Will it help with lvl 50 gear?

Then back to the original question, I also have an ARC at lvl 15 (needed for BLM) and a pugilist at lvl 5. And I am obviously out of low level quests. Just FATEs, FATEs and FATEs again? It can get quite boring.

Yeah, all you have left to do is FATEs, dungeons and leves, and of these, FATEs are the most EXP efficient and least stressful choice. A lot of people have been asking for a better balance between all three choices, but to my knowledge, SE has not given any statement about that yet.

This game may be angled against alts... but with the thoughts of grinding fates and leves for all the other classes I think it makes sense to have alts. More quests to go around. Shame there's no joint bank for sharing gear with alts, but if divided by gear type that may not matter. I've always like playing alts so that's my excuse to do so.

Sudden thought though.. if they prefer we do all classes on character why do they allow 8 per server? lol

To screw with your head. Not only that but secondary classes (assuming they're below your main's level) get a +50% EXP bonus. I guess making you level 1.5 times faster is supposed to make up for the lack of main scenario quests.

My question indeed. Who has the time, or the pleasure to develop more than one character? This game is cool, but there are other things to play as well. I am still missing on GTA V for example.

Yeah, the 50% thing is very helpful at the end. Still I believe the party quests (dungeons & C) should pay at least twice the exp. Once I've got 15K exp in 20 secs. joining the huge ochu FATE. Not complaining, but still very unbalanced.

There are barely enough quests to get your through one job. You can use the low level ones in each city on a class from that city. So, say you start as CNJ in Gridania, do all the low level quests on CNJ. Then when you go to Ul'dah and unlock the classes there you can use the low level quests on one of those classes. Same when you go to Limsa. But by the time you start doing dungeons there aren't enough quests to spread around to multiple jobs. I was having to spam FATEs sometimes just to get another level to unlock the next series of story quests. The quests you get from 47-50 give a lot of exp, and you can get to 50 just by doing the quests and jumping in on any FATE you run across. I actually hit 50 and still had a few quests in Northern Thanalan that I left undone. Since you stop acquiring exp at 50, I'm not going to waste the exp. I'm saving them for the next job I get high enough to do the quests. But for the most part, from 15-50 you'll probably be doing all the quests on one class/job. If you want to level that many jobs simultaneously, you're going to be grinding a lot of FATEs.
