Lightning Fate Weapons... WTF is That?

So some of these look pretty cool, I particularly like the WAR axe (which is saying something because I don't like ANY of them so far), the bow, and of course, Lightning's Sword.

But one in particular, I just don't get... the sch/smn book, wtf is that thing?

Edit: If you watch the video in the link provided, after 50 seconds you see them all pull out these weapons, they all seem to have a pretty cool animation while being unsheathed.
