Can not update laucher version.

So after updated my client the launcher instant crashed then I keep getting the error "can't update launcher version" and the game won't start when signing up. So after many hours SE try to fix shit and thing just getting worse than before.....

There are few things you can try.

Try in order:
1. remove the "read only" flag for the following folder, when asked do it recursively: C:\Users\{pc user}\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn
2. remove the "read only" flag for the following folder, when asked do it recursively: C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn
3. rename the following file (prepending _ for example), this will reset your launcher settings: C:\Users\{pc user}\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\FFXIV_BOOT.cfg
4. rename the following file (prepending _ for example), this will reset your game settings: C:\Users\{pc user}\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\FFXIV.cfg
5. rename the following folder/s (prepending _ for example), this will reset your character settings/widgets: C:\Users\{pc user}\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\FFXIV_CHR{16HEX}

If you are on Windows 7, try to run the game once as Administrator. Worked for me on a previous patch/update when I had the same issue.

I'm having the same problem. This is FFXI all over again, S/E just can't patch a game w/o fcking it up for half the players. I've just about had it with these tools.
