OP, I understand what you are saying. I have similar scheduling issues, but I always thought that endgame raiding required such teamwork based organization.

As someone who still haven't even beaten Coil 2 yet (best I got was around 20%, then 2 people got hit by laser and we ended up with blowing to rot)I have to say I disagree with OP. Having a lot of fun and, while I admit it's frustrating to lose due to other people failing to do their job, I'd rather have that than being able to just group with anyone and clear everything.
Man, if 8 is to much for you, you'd have HATED 72man raids in eq.

Do not change the current content you have. You will ruin your game by making the game casual. The more the difficult the game is, the longer you keep the game going. Hardcore players attract more casual players, most of your audience is hardcore players. Casual players cannot be tended to via endgame difficulty lowering. Let's take a look at WoW's playerbase as of doing this lowering difficulty mentality. After WoTLK the player base declined SEVERLY and has continued to decline until it's eventual downfall. You cannot cater to players like this. It will simply ruin the game for the hardcore players (THE ONES WHO WILL BE YOUR REOCCURING SUBSCRIPTIONS) and introduce many casual (Play for a couple months the on to the next fad) players which will greatly decrease your playerbase. The game is fun because it's hard. Endgame cannot change. DO NOT CHANGE IT OR LOSE PLAYERS. The route to casual has been the games downfall and you need to check up on your history so you can see my point.
Don't change the game by lowering difficulty!

What your suggesting wiggles is a terrible idea and I pray to god this post doesn't get taken seriously. I hope you get bored and go back to WoW this week. When you do request this thread to be deleted please!Im a gamer who loves a challenge. I dont scoff at hard difficulty in games, but in an MMO such as FFXIV difficult dungeons/bosses present a unique problem.
Eight people doing something correctly together, coordinating together is very time consuming, and just feels frustrating. If one key role dies such as a healer or tank, the fight goes sour. If someone misses a AOE dodge or does not know the fight it becomes a problem. This is the primary concern of the Duty finder in endgame.
^^ DO NOT LISTEN TO HIM SE DO NOT CATER TO THESE PLAYERS. DEATH TO YOUR GAME SOON FOLLOWS!Wiggles you make a good point. I agree that the fights might have too many mechanics in them and that they are too punishing if even a few people make mistakes. If I think back to WOW hardmodes, encounters would usually employ a few mechanics, with only end bosses in a dungeon going for multiple mechanics to learn.
From my perspective, I see it as poor design. Getting 1 shot by multiple mechanics does nothing for gameplay value, it just adds annoyances to the players partaking in the encounter. Also it encourages players to become annoyed with others who can't dodge mechanics, and further encourages a split between "elite" players and "non-elite/casual/mechanically poor" players. I don't think its healthy for a game to have players genuinely become frustrated with playing with other members in the player base. It hurts the social aspect of the game.
Compared to FFXI, this game is a cakewalk. And yet, tons of people still managed to finish the vast majority of the content in that game.
I love FFXIV but come on, have some perspective.
Lol, the amount of "leetness" on this thread is staggering..
I love some of these replies, this ones my favorite, "hardcore players are the ones who continue to pay subs" ahahahaah ..oh that made me laugh good..
Hardcore players are the whiners, they are the constant stress encountered in almost every MMO. You are the flakes who find 50 things you don't like then quit. You guys pay the bills? Really? How's that when you make up 15% of the pop?
Don't even care about making the game easier, I just hate some of you people I swear..
