Multiple characters and items

Not sure where to post this, but here it is. Mod can move it if necessary. I don't see a suggestion forum and this isn't a technical issue.

So, today I was rudely made aware of the game design that does not allow you to mail yourself items or whatever between multiple characters. To be blunt; it's nonsense.
I've heard it's supposed to handicap RMT. Well, you failed and have only succeeded in handicapping the people who pay your salaries.
If you want to handicap RMT you will also need to remove trading between all players. Realistic? Probably not, but I want the ability to move items between the characters I am paying to use.

I can't even express how annoyed I am at this game design decision. RMT can just have two characters trade each other stuff or befriend each other and mail it to themselves that way.
Yet, we, the players cannot transfer items between characters. You can't friend yourself unless you have multiple ways to access the game. (cont.d)


It has to be looked at. Preventing legitimate players from moving items from their characters is flat out terrible.
SE, FF14 is fantastic. You have utterly failed with this decision and I truly believe it has to be changed.
Add some way for the same account to trade items between characters at the very least.

The sad truth is until this changes I'm abandoning this character and all 30 of her levels. Thanks for that. Much appreciated. Can I have that time of my life back?

uhm if i remember correctly you can have one character be everything. why would you need multiple characters on the same server for any other purpose than looks or alter egos. Also if you are trying to trade between worlds that is a very good implement to have. market prices would really dive if everyone was able to buy someting from one world for 10X cheaper than they can on your world.

I have two characters. One is PLD WAR DRG, the other is everything else. some people just like to have a few characters.

That being said, i agree, and im afraid to trade large sums of gil to a friend to trade back to my other character because SE has been banning people for these types of Moves thinking its RMT

Sending large sums of gil or items through the mail system to a friend to mail to your other chara is also flag worthy. it is quite frustrating.

So ill Thumb this up, i hope SE sees this.

why would you need multiple characters on the same server

In FFXI, a game also designed by SE, we are allowed I think 18 characters or so. There is no limits on this, you can either create new characters on the same server or different servers, and you cannot exchange items between worlds, the "mule" as we FFXIers call them must be on the same world as your other characters in order to send items to it.

With that said, my goal, and to answer your question, is to have mules for storage space. As any FFXIer knows, we have anywhere from 1 to 10+ mules who's jobs are to have AH space to sell more items and to hold said items. Why this "feature" was taken out of FFXIV boggles my mind. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to make another character beyond your first one and still, I have a standard sub that's for 8 characters on same server.

Well here I am, suffering space issues because I am trying to level all my classes because the cross class system demands it for max effect, and I really like to save items for when I need them. Instead I constantly have to get rid of "junk" (meaning not useful for me at that very second in time) items because I run out of space. I don't like that and it needs to be changed. Also the not getting retainers until like level 20 or whenever it was can suck it and needs to change to level 1. I don't know who made these design decisions or what in the world good they thought it'd do, but it's fail. It harms no one in the RMT business when they use their bots to auto level back to retainer level in a couple hours.

I have 13 mules in FFXI. I rarely use them to sell items, but they are holding thousands of items, waiting for the day to be useful. That is why and only why a person will purchase multiple character slots. So I ask, does SE expect me to someday get tired of my current character and to create a whole new one and start all over again, 8+ times? Not going to happen. I require only one slot if I were to ever do that. Delete and start over. So why do I have 8 char slots? It's obvious why. Why is that "why" not in effect right now?

If SE is gonna charge for that extra slot, we should be able to transfer items between our characters. They obviously see a reason for it if they charge a fee, why would they hinder us for using it?!?

Also about money exchanges. It can't be rocket science to determine someone is just trading money between their 2 toons on the same account....

I hope SE will use the same system find in guild wars 2 with a bank shared by all your characters on the same world.
