If I provide all the mats for a synth, what is a fair price to pay?

So...I'm not entirely sure if this would be the right place for this to go, I was debating between here and the market, but decided it fits better here.

My question is basically this: If I provide literally every piece of material for a synth, what is a fair price for me to pay a crafter to put it together? I'm working on my 3rd relic (Artemis Bow), and the first two were put together by friends of mine, but this time I need a carpenter and I don't happen to know any. x.x;

That said, I also don't know what kind of price I should be paying them to put it together for me. (Specifically the Longarm's Composite Bow) I not knowledgeable about this type of crafting at all (my only 50 craft is CUL. xD) and don't want to pay more because of my ignorance, so I want to know what I should look for first before I drop too much gil.

1) It depends on whether you care about HQ or NQ. Since this is a relic base weapon, you couldn't care less one way or the other, so it should be cheaper since the crafter has to put forth zero effort.

2) Since you're probably going to want them to socket it as well, you might want to pay a little extra.

Ultimately, it's going to come down to what the crafter is willing to do. Personally, I'd do it for like... 10k, but I'm on a legacy server where you can't go 10 steps without bumping into someone with 50 everything, so demand is low.

As a Alchemist/Weaver with HQ 50 class gear, I don't charge anyone if they bring mats. If some random persons asks me to craft something for them and they supply every mat, then I won't charge anything. If they ask for HQ gear stuff and still supply the mats, I still craft for free but if I can't get 100% HQ without HQ mats then I will tell them. Most of the time I can but makes lifer easier to have HQ mats.

I also don't charge for meldings. If you want to tip, then by all means tip but I won't ask for money.

Not all crafters are as nice as me though, my FC master has 4 crafters at 50 now I think and he charges FC members for his crafting and extra if he gets HQ AND he makes you supply the mats and if you want HQ he makes you supply HQ mats. To me, that is just far too greedy for a crafter to ask for.

To give somewhat of an answer, I have been tipped 2.5k-5k for melds and 10k average on crafting recipes.

Two days ago I needed level 48 off hand tools crafted for both my Carpenter and Leatherworker. I went to Limsa with NQ mats in hand and found two people right away who were willing to help. The one I went with was happy to HQ, and charged 3k - which I was all too happy to pay.

Hopefully you can extrapolate an answer from that.

PS - yes, I fully intend to "pay it forward" once I can help others.

PPS - I would never think to charge my FC members. I have supplied several with full sets of HQ gear. They, in turn, send me their "junk", which often contains treasures I need for crafting. Then again - it's not 50+ gear yet. So that may need to be adjusted based on my costs. For now, it's almost all stuff I'm carrying with me anyway.

I found my crafter this afternoon and brought him all the mats, and he didn't even try to charge me. :] I tipped him 3k per meld just cause he was very nice however, for a total of 6k paid.

I'm glad it seems like most crafters aren't terribly greedy for such things. That said it lit a spark in me to wanna pick up a second crafter other than my CUL. ^^

honestly, im against crafting something for someone who brings me the materials, unless that person is from my guild of course.

reason is when you craft something for someone, be it for free or for a smaller price, you are more than likely providing that person with gear at a much lower price than the prices at the marketboard. doing this is harmful to classes that craft because we craft for profit

This. I spent millions of gil and tons of time leveling my crafts. Unless you're in my FC I'm charging you for the synth/meld.

I only synth two star items for non FC and i charge anywhere from 100-150k if they have all the materials. Even at that price its still less than i sell them for on the marketboards.

I meld for free, but I usually get 2-5k tip. On 1-star gear I charge 7-10k per item if they have mats or I charge 5k less than market board with my mats. When 2-star gear was popular for like a week I did crafts for 50k. I don't charge my FC members anything if they have mats; otherwise I charge market price for base mats. I find people charge too much and end up making no gil while I charge a reasonable amount and make a ton of gil.

When I went looking for 2 different off hand cobalt tools, it was because there were none for sale in the marketboard, and only 5-6 sold in the history. I did advise the kind crafter who helped me out that there was an untapped market.

I've offered 2k or 3k to put together some level 40-50 items, I'd offer up about 5k for the two-star stuff.
