computer lag or server ? HELP!

Recently I realized that whenever i am in a dungeon ak or Titian or garuda hm I always get a 2-3 second lag. During this lag everyone will freeze except for me, i can move around smoothly attacking and casting ( skills are not lagging) but the damage effect doesn't show until the 2-3 s lag is over. This is getting extremely frustrating, trying to predict what titian will do in the next 2-3 seconds doesn't help. I tested on gw2 and there is no lag in dungeons at all and through out the entire game.

I am at NY and I have 20 ms from the NA data center and using TWC ( my fps doesn't drop below 48 even at lag) I move around smoothly just people and boss freezes in time. ( time stops for those 2-3s) I dc few times today outside of dungeon and even got error 9000 twice. I asked people in my party no one is having this issue. It is like a spike lag? When the 2-3 s lag is over I am back to normal but then I will lag again. I doubt it is my internet because my last few wins I didn't lag at all http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3028200770

correction: I can see blizzard 3 casting smoothly during the 2-3 when every1 froze including titian ( the casting animation works fine) np drop in fps . Time just stops for me

When you say your connection to the datacenter is 20ms... are you testing against an address starting with 199? If not, you are hitting the wrong server. If it's 184.107.107.176, that is a webserver....hosting EIDOS.com and other sites related to their game library, as well as Square-Enix sites.

You can find the proper IP by pulling up resmon, expanding the networking section, and finding FFXIV in the list. At least two connections should be there. 124 addresses are to Japan (idle for the most part), and the 199 IP is to the game server you are using.

Many have been researching this, working with various ISP's, (their own, as well as ones in-between them and SE) to try to pinpoint and (hopefully) relieve some of the choking points in route to SE's servers. Unfortunately for many, things have not improved yet, as many are still pointing fingers at someone else even though they've been shown testing that shows their hardware is not managing the congestion well.

If you do manage to gather evidence showing problems with packet loss in route to your actual game server, please forward them to both your ISP and SE. Hopefully, if enough data is gathered someone will finally take action one of these days.

I pinged the 184.107.107.176 one and is it safe to assume that its the server? but then no one was having the issue while i was doing titian except for me

thank you Raist, I found the addressed and pinged it, it is now av 23ms which is really good supposedly. I guess I just have to wait for them to fix it in a patch
