Game is meant to be super difficult do not cater to these players please god do not. Look at WoW's subscription decline since they started doing it. Take a look at history and don't repeat the same mistakes.

This people would abuse the living crap out of it just look at what they did to Titan now and why do you need to do all your classes on Coil in a week o.o? I mean I can understand wanting to help friends but why are you so worried about a class lock you should be using your main anyway since it SHOULD be the class your best on
Andddddd messed up quoting again God these forums are a pain sometimes
Noobs can go into coil and get gear i've been working to get from day 1. RNG > skill Very stupid.
I think maybe one way to refine one of your suggestions is to broaden the proposed myth tomes a bit - Disciple of War/Magic, maybe instead of class? That would support some of your other ideas (roll-over caps and relic +1s in a week) and still make it at least a little bit hard to obtain. They might go for that.![]()
Not SE's problem if people wanna live in XIV, but they have outdated systems taken from FFXI which don't make sense in their current MMO with a modern MMO system of gearingThis has been discussed quite a bit and the general consensus is that it would just get abused. People would clear 1-4 then drag their FC members through one at a time to pick up 6 pieces of loot. Or sell turns 1-4 for millions of gil.
This would just encourage people to cap on every job and make the game less fun. Can you imagine running AK 72 times a week to cap out all 9 jobs?
I see where people are coming from on this thread, but I just don't think the solutions are as easy as that.
They need to ditch these coil lock outs and bring back their original idea where we can do the raid as much as we want but limit how many things we can lot on each week....
I have other FC members I need to take through coil and I cant!! >.<
Today's patch did not raise the coil cap - it did absolutely nothing to fix this issue. We are still unable to help friends in coil, play jobs besides our main in coil, and it still takes 5 months to gear a single job per character. We are still better off making a new character for every job we level and COMPLETELY ignoring the armory system just like every other MMO on the market.
There is no reason for the armory system to exist at the level cap, we are heavily encouraged to play a single "main" job at level cap and ignore all our other jobs, that is not what this game was advertised as. Please show your support, we NEED to be able to gear all our jobs at a decent pace, as well as play them all to our hearts content, and be able to run content as much as we want, just for fun, and just for the sake of having stuff to do and being able to play all our jobs in the most challenging content. We are paying $15/month, we should not be restricted to less than 10 hours of fun content per week on a single job per turn.
Even if you do not agree with my suggested changes, you should still agree with the fact that this game heavily encourages you to play one single "main" job and discourages you in every way possible to play multiple jobs on a single character and want this to be changed

How exactly is that a bad thing?
At the moment i assume that less than 20% of people are doing Coil, it might be more but i doubt. If people have Gil to spend and want to be boosted, let them.
Eventually the boosted will catch up with the boosters gearwise and it will have all been worth it.
Guess what, it does work just like you quoted him saying how it would work. Just right now the number of times can try for a piece of Coil gear is once per week, and your Myth tomes are your tokens. Yeah, gated progression can suck at times, but do you have a better idea to keep content locusts at bay?I don't have the link or exact quote but this was suppose to work like this from the beginning. Yoshida numerous times talked about the number of times per week you could need or greed for a piece of gear that dropped and if you were unlucky to get gear drops then a token would drop for you instead.
I just have to ask how many people have almost fully geared out every class in each MMO they have played prior to running out of things to do with what they consider their main? Pretty sure the usual trend is to deck out your main, then work on the other classes they enjoy, and finally the last ones once they are as well established as they can be on their mains.Even though "not needing alts" is a back-of-the-box selling point, the design of the game doesn't really support this notion. You're free to play any class you want (and I do because I like being versatile, hence leveling all 50s), but you can only be "the best" at one of them, gear-wise, at least for now as ilvl90 gear is gated by time.
