No mention of Ingenuity? The hit to progress for ilvl 70 is immense. Without Ingenuity it takes double or triple the number of synthesis actions to complete.

I have 50gsm, 37cul and have been semi-successful with 2star recipes. I have full hq gear with all melds except for 2-3 overmeld slots. 40durability 2stars are tough, I only get ~50% hq chance with the limited cross class I have. But 80 durability items I have gotten in the 70%-90% hq chance range. I just picked up the synth that does 2.5x progress with 50% chance and Tricks of Trade and I am expecting to get to 100% hq on 80 durability items without much issue. I am a handful of levels away from picking up Rumination as well but I don't think I will need it.
I will share my rotation, not 100% ideal, and it will change a lot once I am using these new cross-class that I mention above. But here is what has worked ok for me:
Inner Quiet (18cp)
Steady Hand II (25cp)
Hasty Touch until Steady Hand II wears off
If condition=good or better, Hasty Touch
If condition=normal or worse, Standard Synthesis
Master Mend II (160cp)
Steady Hand II (25cp)
Hasty Touch until Steady Hand II wears off
Manipulation (88cp)
Steady Hand II (25cp)
From here, it depends alot on how much progress you make with each synth, aka your craftsmanship stat...
If condition=good or better, Hasty Touch
If condition=normal or worse, Standard Synthesis
But as you get close to durability=0, be sure you have enough left to complete the synth.
This uses 341cp and I have 342 cp so it works great for my cp level given that I have no cp regen abilities as of yet. But keep in mind, there are tons of ways to reach 100% hq with different combinations of cross class.

I think the most important thing is this - if you plan to use the hasty touch spam method, you absolutely need steady hand II.

Ive stated this FIVE times already. I do not WANT to HQ 2 stars 100%. Seriously, why can't you people understand that? Just because I don't want to play like YOU doesn't make my playstyle wrong. The entire point of this post was to increase my CHANCES of HQing with the skills I have. I already HQ'd what I wanted to. This is seriously the worst community Ive ever seen....You can refuse to listen to everyone as much as you want. In the end, you will still never HQ @100% with that limited skill set.
Use your leatherworking skills to make money and buy HQ gear, that's your only option unless you ever feel like finishing the work that it takes to prep for this gear.
Feel free to burn 9/18 tome items and prove us wrong.
What you're asking is the equivalent of asking how to finish HQ titan in lv.45 gear, you can't. You have to put in hard work to do impressive things, it's funny how you refuse to understand that.
Not many people care much about the looks of items like you do. Everyone is interested in the stats of an item, which is what actually matters when you are doing the end-game content. The stats on the NQ pieces that you mentioned are mediocre at best, in comparison to the HQ versions. Furthermore, simply using your tomes to buy DL gear, like others here have mentioned, would take less time (fewer tomes), money (no costs for crystals, other mats, and materia), and risk (there's zero risk to buy DL) to get gear that is very near to the HQ crafted stats.Ive stated this FIVE times already. So, the "worst community you've ever seen," is actually just pointing out the obvious.

I was about to give it posting on this thread. But I just had to.
You care about it's appearance, so why bother HQ'ing? Why bother increasing your chances of HQ'ing? You don't care. So why do it? Just go with NQ simple and easy. Then you wont' have to deal with "the worst community you've ever seen" for calling you out and needing a rotation. If you honestly didn't care a single bit, you wouldn't be trying to HQ any of it and just get it NQ. Why you want to dedicate your time and money to making one of the best pieces of gear in the game for only it's appearance and not a single care for it's stats is beyond me. For RP'ing? I don't know. Why not have both since you're making it already?
No one' saying your "playstyle"(there's a playstyle now for crafting?) is wrong. We're just saying it's not optimal for HQ'ing 2 star. You're asking for help on rotations, which is basically us giving you our rotations. Isn't that the same thing as you "playing like us?" All of us prefer to HQ 100% everything. Why wouldn't you? Of course, everybody has their weird logic I guess and I won't judge.
P.S. I don't know how you found me aggressive and rude but okay. I don't understand your logic anyways.
In OPs defense he wasn't looking for the very best way to guarantee HQ, he was looking for the best way to get the highest chance of HQ given his circumstances. Is his opinion shared by most that play the game? No, but it's his opinion.
Steady Hands II is probably the most important ability for reducing variance in longer synths along with tricks of trade.
My set up is kind of like this but I'm a weaver by trade. 362crft/348ctrl.
50gsm: Innovation, manipulation
50wvr: Careful synthesis II
50crp: Byregot's Blessing
37cul: Hasty Touch/Steady Hand II
15alc: tricks of trade
15ltw: waste not (rare use)
15bsm: Ingenuity (important for HQ2*)
You want to be hitting 100% on your HQ2s no matter what because you're investing at least a few days worth of boring synths and your stuff selling on the market to get the money back for a failed/nq synth. To the OP, part of the challenge of crafting in this game is to create a situational gambit where every option you have is fairly close to optimum. This is why I want to eventually get every craft to 50 pending my sanity of sitting through it
People already said you can't with those skills and are giving you advice on how to. You refuse to take advice so here we are
