    Ready for 2-Star

Hey there. I just recently reached the Control minimum for Leatherworker.
I'm hoping to craft some Gryphonskin armor for my monk.
I'm just about ready. I don't have many other crafts to 15, and unfortunately 15 is as high as I plan on taking other crafts for now.

Using leatherworker skills and 15 craft skills for others how can I guarantee Gryphonskin gets completed while maximizing my HQ chances?

I tried HQing a one star recipe and I felt like I used most of my durability just finishing the synthesis only getting to 10% on quality.

I'd appreciate it if you didnt use abbreviations^^; ie SH = Steady Hands.

I sort of understand the concept of HQing. Using your CP to restore durability and using Inner Quiet -> Steady Hands -> Hasty Touch then restore CP with that carpenter skill.
How do you get the durability up and when do you do it? Do you start the quality rotation 1 progress ability from finishing?

After discussing this with many many crafters, the chances you will have of getting HQ two start gear with your current setup is going to be very slim. Level all classes to 15 and CUL to 37. Many also will say you need level 50 crafting in a few other key classes. You will need HQ level 50 gear and have it maxed out with materia. Depending on the materia you are able to equip you may also need to eat food before attempting to craft those items.

I plan on having all 15 abilities before I attempt the 2 Stars, but I don't plan on taking cooking to 37. Ugh cooking or any other craft to 50 until much later in my gaming career.
    So basically start the synthesis...
Inner Quiet, Waste Not, Careful Synthesis until 1 away from completion, Tricks of Trade on Good.
Then for quality how do I start it?
Masters Mend I? II? Another Waste not? Steady Hand + Hasty Touch? Ruinmation at 5 durability?

I have the gear and the materia and the food, but I don't plan on taking other classes passed 15. I have some but not all, thank you for your input but I'm looking for the optimal way to make an HQ with what I have, not what I can get.

Really the most important 15 ability for long crafts is from Alchemy, Tricks of the Trade.

If you have Waste Not, Tricks of the Trade, and Careful Synthesis you should be fine. Always open with Inner Quiet (or Comfort Zone if you have it). Then Waste Not followed by Careful Synthesis spam until you're one progress move away from finishing it. You can replace Careful Synthesis with Rapid Synthesis if you're feeling lucky. I dislike using progress moves that require CP here.

How you increase quality depends on what abilities you have at your disposal. I'd need to know specifically what you have.

As for gear/food I find having 347 craftsmanship and 318 control without food to be essential. On any important craft I go for the highest CP food I can get my hands on and if you have to use food to reach those caps it will be rough. In my goldsmithing gear with everything except offhand fully melded + some good food I start two star crafts with ~390 CP. I spent a ridiculous amount of gil stat capping all the goldsmith gear and I can honestly say it's not worth it. I have something like 360 craftsmanship 355 control with that set on and the two star crafts are no easier than my other DoH sets with crap melds. Just max out the CP.

    Did I mention CP yet?

I am not going to include Waste Not 2 because 1)you do not have it, 2)I do not have it, and3)you do not want to take the craft to 50 to get it any time soon.

    Master's Mend : restores 30 Durability. That's 3 extra turns, at 92 CP. 30.67 CP/extra turn.
    Manipulation : restores 30 Durability over time. That's 3 extra turns, at 88 CP. 29.33 CP/extra turn.
Waste Not : halves durability loss over next 4 turns. Net effect : 2 extra turns (4 turns total, but 20 durability used, difference is 2 turns), at 56 CP. 28 CP/extra turn.
    Master's Mend 2 : restores 60 Durability. That's 6 extra turns, at 160 CP. 26.67 CP/extra turn.

If you have the choice, use Master's Mend 2. Use it when you hit either 20 or 10 Durability left, assuming you have the CP remaining for it.

Um I'm a leatherworker 50 trying to craft Griphonskin armor so yes I do have Waste not 2

Alright once again I am not looking for a 100% chance to crit 2 star every single time. I am looking for a rotation using HQ materials that will get the most out of what I have. No I will not level every craft to 50. This is what I have and what I plan on attempting it with, I understand its not optimal but that's not what this thread is about.
Currently I have 15 Every Craft 50 Leatherworker, from start to finish what is the optimal rotation to get the most out of what I HAVE not what I can get?

If you're going to buy HQ materials, you might as well just have someone craft the thing for you. You are not going to reliably HQ the materials with your setup.

There are maybe like 3 people who can even craft HQ gryphonskin on my server. Thanks for your valuable input though

And there's probably 40 that can reliably HQ the gear. You said you wanted to do it with HQ materials and limited skills. It's easier and cheaper just to have one of them HQ it for you.
