Does Anyone Think Crafting is Too Slow?

The title pretty much says it all... I have low level crafting, and I've spent the whole day catching up Carpentry and other crafts, and while it's someone easy to do with the weapon grips, it's *very* slow, and *very* redundant. I like the emphasis on crafting in this game, and realize there are only 50 levels of it, but it only gets worse as time goes on...

I just feel like to get crafts up to be useful for your fighting disciplines, you spend 100x more time to work on the crafts themselves than your main fighting discipline. I hate to make the game more casual, and like the difficulty, but does anyone think the war/magic disciplines level way too fast and the the hand/land ones way too slow?

I think the game would be much better if these two speeds were reversed, though I know some crafters enjoy it, the majority who just want a few crafts for them to be useful for your war/magic disciplines find it to just be an incessant grind.

I usually do the leves for them, this helps a *little*, but I think the rate at which war/magic levels with leves is waaaayyy faster than crafting leves.

Also, the recipes themselves are a bit silly. Fish glue is used in things like one of the first bows you can make... Isn't it a bit weird how they've designed it?

I think it might make sense to award a great deal more skill points based on what is being crafted. Maybe leave it as-is for things like weapon grips which are components, but actual equippable/usable items are usually harder to make and take more time to do so, so they should award more SP.

The only thing I hate about crafting are the ridiculous recipes on some of those crafts, but I heard they're changing something with crafting, we'll see what it is.

I think since crafting is essentially a mini-game, that it should *feel* like a mini-game. Right now, I feel like if I want my crafts and gathering professions to stay relevant for the more fun aspect of the game (no doubt crafting is less fun than battle in my book... at least right now with you spamming Standard Synth until red lights, in which you hit Wait... even that is optional at times).

I agree that everything about crafting needs to be faster. I think they may have hit the leveling curve on the head with war/magic, or perhaps that will need sped up when they introduce more levels to the game. I would particularly like the ridiculous recipes to be fixed, such as using Fish Glue or something in low level synths, and it would also be nice to see the harder synths have more SP reward. A bow, spear, armor, etc. takes much longer to make than a component, as you said, and should reward proportional SP. The fact if you want to craft certain items, you need multiple Hand disciplines make it so this is even more of a problem, and SP needs increased for crafting across the board.

I would much rather spend less of my time crafting, and more of it fighting alongside LS friends

Once you get to R16 or so you get about 100 SP for easy battles, and anything for 250+ SP takes about the same time as a 250+ SP crafted item.

Yes it does feel a bit slow. I did recently learn an ability called hasty hand which instantly finishes a craft but gives lower skill points and experience, also if it fails you usually lose everything. It does have a high success rate though. It's quite handy if you just want to make something quickly. I learnt this at rank 15 Blacksmith, at least i think it was 15. Depending on what you make you can spam this and still get good SP.

You have a choice to make. Inevitable. Unsolvable.
You either spend a lot of time crafting...
Or you spend a lot of money crafting.

Since time is money, would you either craft for a long time, or farm for a long time so you can craft for a short time?

In the end, it's the same. The only reason so many people can afford to level crafting is because most of the cost is the time it takes to level it, rather than the materials to grind through it.

i think the speed isnt the problem it's the variety and the dullness of these minigames. Spicing them up would help.
Making it faster would be a "quickfix" but i would prefer making it more fun > faster.

you actually can get exp faster crafting at higher levels, but, due to the lack of crafting parties, and leve linking, it doesnt compete,
but if you do a craft thats like 8 levels higher than you, which is usually a pretty entertaining craft, even if you barely lose, you will get like 260 exp, and if you succeed you ll get anywhere from 700-900 exp for a craft that may have taken umm maybe a minute and change. I now, only do leves that are the highest available for that craft, because you can get like 1k+ on a good leve that level, and usually like at least 600+ on the easier ones.

but most people prefer easier crafts that they can spam standard and win most of the time, and get consistent exp with less failures and less attention.

I prefer harder crafts, more gamble more reward more difficulty.

that said, the it starts to get really hardcore with the tnls when you get high level. only people who really want to craft should take it up high.
