fastest way to level a chocobo

I will hit rank 10 chocobo very soon. This has been my secret to leveling one very quickly.

Wait until about lvl 45 to start ranking him up. Travel to Dragonshead. The bottom left corner of the map is an area called the fury's gaze. there are about 10 lvl 48 plasmoids that spawn there and do not aggro. They respawn fairly quickly. Party up with three other people and all summon your chocobos. AoE farm and Level exclusively from 45-48 grinding these enemies. You'll get a 10 chain every time they respawn.

After that, take your party to Ceruleum Processing Plant and run dark devices fate with chocobos out. Dont worry about killing, just tag everything. You'll be about rank 7 chocobo once you hit 50.

Now repeat this on another character. Once you're at 50, he will be close to 10.


p.s. he's still useless at R9 so it may be a waste of time altogether.

nice guide,will try later.isnt train chocobo using high lcl class will slowdown the chocobo exp?
it not that useless,a companion not suppose to be strong as player although companion def is higher,so do not expect much from it
for me rank 4 heal skill chocobo do help alot soloing and going to make hybrid

at 50, the plasmoids give about 230xp and I can kill 3 a minute. I just haven't found a place lots of people want to level chocobos until they are at cap.

Yeah, there are no level 50+ mobs anywhere in the game I could grind to level my Chocobo.

quarrymill are some lvl 50 mobs, where odin was sealed

My current method for finishing off Rank 9 is at Bluefog. Looks like DD got nerfed so I've been farming the Quartz Doblyns with a few people and running around to fates and tagging mobs. Slow but steady

Still working through Rank 9, I found out the following. The XP bar is about 300 pixels wide. To fill one pixel, you have to kill 18 monsters that give 217 xp a piece. If you can kill three a minute solo, Rank 9-10 takes 30 hours of straight grinding to hit the approximately 1,171,800 total XP. Hence a solid weeks worth of full time grinding. PUKE!!!!
