My idea is those are what are draining the deaspected crystals we've been getting. But even that seems unlikely. Due to the ranks of the mobs that surround them I'd say this is content intended for people ranks 60+.

You know that is a very good point, the Garleans deal with weird futuristic technologies with magic from what I understand.
Maybe they really are sucking the elements out of crystals to make some sort of fuel source to build an army to take over the world.

The empire probabky drains the crystal formations from Mor Dhona to turn them to energy.
And that's what those reactors are for.

They aren't airships as some are suggesting they are fixed structures with buildings and pipes going into the ground.

ever consider them to be Aether reactors? Channeling the aether?
ffxiv didn't start out with having a massive crystal which shattered..... The shards and crystals could be severaly compacted Aether.

Speaking of weird things, I've been noticing these odd vents that look like stone wells (circular) with a pipe coming up near it. I've also came across a docking platform of some kind south west of skull vally camp.

The docking platforms out in the field are airship docking stations for sure. There is one near one of the hamlets in Coethas and in the Hamlet an NPC asks if you saw the Airship Station outside.

OOOOOOooooo neat. I had a feeling it was an airship dock but it looked tiny.... Like how big will these airships be? I already figured they will prob look like zeplins from WoW (just less cartoony) Since you do see a few in the sky and they have the zeplin look (boat with hot air ballon) Which is similar to the choci carrigages.
